All Roads Lead To the Dean Court Hotel...

The Dean Court Hotel has a Fantastic position, right by York Minster, could not get any better. This is the perfect base to explore York from.
You just cannot get lost in York, just look out for the York Minster Towers and you're back at the Dean Court.

We had booked 3 Nights at the Dean Court over the August 2012 Bank Holiday and had Originally booked the small double (Only one available at the time), but were offered a room upgrade to a Standard Double (Room 28) which we took straight away and we never looked back, really helpful and professional staff.

The Day of Arrival coincided with the arrival of the Paralympic Torch in York which went right by the Dean Court with thousands lining the route to the Minster; with the location right next to the Minster it was so perfect.

Our room was fantastic and the views to the York Minster to die for, everything you could thing of for a luxury bedroom was catered for at the Dean Court, Large Luxury Double Bed, fantastic mattress and pillows, so much wardrobe and cupboard space, Flat Screen TV & DVD player (Bring Your Own if you remember).

Lots of mentions on here regarding the noise in the evening and early morning, all I can say is that remember you are right in the heart of the City of York where all roads lead to, so there will be the normal noise of tourists having fun, but nothing that is over the top, also really good double glazed windows if required but we had no need for them.

Overall I have stayed in hundreds of Luxury Hotels around the World and I have to say that the Dean Court Hotel Ranks in the Top 10 of Most Enjoyable Stays plus Scores so highly on the Professionalism of its Staff, to the management, you have a great crew, keep up the fantastic work and me and my partner look forward to coming back.

Room Tip: Room 28 Was To Die For..! Fantastic Views of the Minster, Really Comfortable Bed and Lovely Bathroo...

The location of the hotel could not be better - looking straight out to the west door of York Minster.
The service and attitude of the staff were excellent.
The food in the DCH restaurant was very good both at breakfast and dinner.
The beds were comfortable and the towels fluufy white.
The reason for the luke warm review is that the price was quite high and the rooms were hot.
The decor in the rooms and corriders could only be described as varying shades of mud, no not dirt, but just the choice of paint wallpaper and the few pictures.
I had the misfortune to be there on one of the hottest weekends of the year ( there is no air conditioning in the bedrooms) and the only the bottom half of one sash window in room 19 would open. Sash windows do provide good ventilation if the top half is opened but they were painted solid.

I had my wedding at the Dean Court Hotel which came in their 'Complete wedding package. From the moment I arrived the service was second to none (I was the groom). The hotel manager was fantastic and nothing at all was too much of a problem. All the meetings which were set up for us were very professional and the staff made my wife and I feel relaxed during a very nerve-wracking time.

The room was very clean and the little details such as bottled water and turn-down service topped it all off. It's an ideal location for a visit to York right next to the Minster - what else could you ask for?

It's usually the small things in life which make the difference and this is the hotel's forte. During my stay, just before the wedding was to begin, I had to return to my room quickly and the staff walked about 20 feet in front of me to make sure it was clear and there was no risk of me bumping into the bridal party due to arrive.

From the breakfast to the main meals, the food was divine and very well presented. The staff were consistently polite and friendly and made us feel very much at ease throughout the whole of our stay.

I really can't say in words how excellent this hotel is and would give it a higher rating than five if I could. Our family and friends all raved about how fantastic the hotel is.

I cannot thank the hotel enough for giving us the best day of our lives so far. We intend to visit the hotel next year for a short stay and can't wait to go back. All I can say is if you book I hope you have the same experience as we did and thank you once agian to all the staff at the hotel.

Room Tip: Have a room with the cathedral is a must

Highly recommended. Staff friendly and welcoming but always with professional courtesy. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. Good choice at breakfast (as a vegetarian I appreciate this). Ideally situated.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the front.

Very impressed with this hotel for a short break with our children aged 12 and 6. From the moment we entered we were impressed with the friendly and efficient service from all the staff. Our car was unloaded by the porters and was parked for us. This is a bonus as parking spaces in York city centre are scarce and very expensive. As we didn’t need our car for a few days this was ideal. Our room was excellent – high quality furniture and facilities. We had two interconnecting rooms, the main with a double bed and the other with bunks and a single bed. The children were very pleased with their room. A lovely personal touch was the blackboard on which their names had been written. There were two TVs, a PS2 and several board games in the children’s room. Not that we needed them as we spent most of the time exploring York. The location is perfect, just across from the Minster. You can hear the bells chiming which is special. They don’t chime all night we were pleased to know! Can’t think of a better location. The main room was lovely as was the bathroom which was very clean and of high quality.
The quality of food was excellent and must say that the choice of breakfast was exceptional. The full breakfast was very well presented, but we were also tempted by waffles, smoked haddock and poached eggs and eggs benedict. A wide variety of hot and cold food is available. The service in the dining room was very friendly and efficient at all times.
Overall a wonderful hotel and highly recommended.

Lovely hotel in a perfect location right in the heart of York opposite the minster. We found all the staff to be friendly, courteous and extremely helpful. Our room was great with a wonderful view of the front of the minster. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. We were on a bed and breakfast basis and the breakfasts were excellent. We have already recommended the hotel to family and friends and hope to return ourselves.

My friend and myself have returned from a trip to York staying at Dean Court. We had booked single rooms but were both upgraded to small double rooms. We arrived at noon and were greeted warmly by the receptionist and the porter who took our cases to store until the rooms were available at 2. On our return a few hours later we were shown to our rooms our cases already there and coats which we hadn't needed had been hung in the wardrobe. Both rooms were clean comfortable and had everything we could have wanted. Fully stocked hospitality tray bathrobes umbrella etc. Within ten minutes reception rang to ask if everything was ok with the rooms and was there anything else we required. The hotel is so conveniently situated and the view and the sounds of The Minster a lovely bonus. The bar staff in the evening were also very pleasant and efficient. The breakfast was served in the lovely dining room again with friendly efficient staff and the menu meant we were spoilt for choice. On checkout we were made to feel we were valued guests and it was nice to be able to leave our cases whilst we enjoyed York before collecting them in the afternoon for our journey home. This is the second time we have stayed at Dean Court and we could not wish for a better place to stay.
