“Great hotel”
Reviewed 27 October 2013

Stayed here for two nights. Found the staff friendly and helpful, the room was large and spacious and had a good nights sleep. Great location. Breakfast was decent with plenty of choice and very tasty.

We arrived midweek and felt ar home straight away. We had a meal first evening in the hotel. The food was excellent the service was spot on.
The location is central and next to the magnificent York minster.
Visited the Race Course on Saturday had a couple of winners.
Visited the Grand Opera House Theatre on two evenings, which we enjoyed.
Cannot say enough regarding the friendly Yorkshire welcome, so nice to be home in my county of birth.
The hotel was over all friendly and welcoming.

Thank you all.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 55 , very quite, and a good nights sleep

Staff are soooooooo freindly (cannot do enough for you), the hotel's location cannot be beaten. Had a meal in the Bistro bar - it was great (try veggie for a change), mushroom risotto was immense (glad I had a small portion). Try the Czech beer (cannot pronounce less spell). Will stay here again and would recommend to anyone wishing a nice relaxed atmosphere. Excellent.

Room Tip: Book early and ask for a room away from the Minster

Had stayed in York before and tried this hotel for a change...and a phase a change is as good as a rest was spot on. this hotel has to be one of the most customer friendly hotels with fantastic service and a location a stones throw from York Minster. Book early to avoid disappointment.

Room Tip: I stayed with my 15 year old daughter in a twin room. Room 37 has a view to die for...see my photos...

Stayed at this hotel for 2 nights during the York Races Weekend. Great location, helpful staff, lovely breakfast, basically couldn't fault it. The little extra touches like dressing gown in room, umbrella, receptionist showing you to your room all make it that extra special but I think the cost of the rooms reflect this. Would definitely stay here again.

we booked 3 rooms altogether for a family get together and booked in to 2 rooms to begin with whilst waiting for other family to arrive when we went back to book these in we had been upgraded 2 of us got four poster bed rooms and one got a king size bed, all rooms were excellent and with all the trimmings you would expect when booking a 4 star hotel. We were all pleased with our rooms, and only two minor niggles, the rooms were so hot it was difficult to sleep and one of the rooms did not have an iron and ironing board in it but that really didn't spoil the stay. The staff really were attentive and nothing was too much trouble for them. There is valet parking as the car park is a way away and we had forgotten something from the car they collected it for us with a smile. Ian one of the night staff gave us some good tips as to where was good to visit. The breakfast was varied and first class and again the staff excellent. I would definitely stay there again and would recommend others to stay there as well. Well done to all staff thank you for making this stay special.
