me and my wife have just returned from a 3day very enjoyable visit to the DCH paid for a room with a minster view
and we were not disappointed the room was a really good size with tea coffee making and an all the other facilities you need for a pleasant stay. the bistro serves meals most of the day really cosy and pleasant there is main restaurant with varied menu overall the food is top quality with good service the breakfast stays open till 10.00 and is buffet for cereals' and juice and table service and cooked to order full English ,kippers, haddock and poached egg.
and cold choices the ladies serving breakfast were especially friendly and helpfully the location of this hotel is the best in York opposite the minster 5 mins from stonegate we both will be definitely stay there again and would recommend it to anyone

Room Tip: try get a minster view room well worth it

DCHotel is positioned in a beautiful spot overlooking the Minster. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and food fab. Only negative is that the building is a bit shabby and is in need of modernisation. Other than that we had a lovely stay

We had our work Christmas lunch in the McLeod Suite, were waited on by two excellent members of staff who were professional, friendly and discreet. Room was decorated beautifully. Our overnight stay in a superior room was sumptuous! What a treat!

My husband and I stayed for one night whilst on a conference in York. It is in a perfect location in the centre next to the Minster.

The booking in process is fast and professional. The room was a little tired and a bit chintzy for me, but still, it was very clean and we had a lovely view of the Minster.

We had been given a disabled room with a seat and handles in the bathroom. Had this been a romantic weekend away, I may have had something to say.

Breakfast was very good too.

In summary - Excellent staff - all very professional, great location, very clean rooms and great breakfast.

Stayed for 2 nights on a special offer in a small double room. The hotels description is accurate as the room is small but you have everything you need, the shower is powerful as is the hairdryer and the location is fantastic. Less than 10 min walk from railway station and next to York Minster and all the shops bars and restaurants. The room was a little too warm but managed to open the sash window and turned the heating off, no view from the room but it was quiet. Breakfast is a treat with lots of choice from the cold buffet of fresh juices cereals pastries and fruit then your order is taken for hot breakfast, again very good quality I had full English first day and scrambled eggs with salmon the second day. We tried a cocktail in the evening and although the taste was good my Singapore Sling wasn't served as it should be, the girl behind the bar needed to get help from a colleague, perhaps the hotel should look at employing dedicated bar staff as these two members of staff serving us the cocktails were then serving breakfast in the morning. We ate out at Ask and Loch Fyne both excellent meals. Will definitely be back but would probably go for the bigger room just for the king size bed.

As a fan of Best Western (in particular the Queens in Chester) we decided to give the Dean Court our hard-earned money for our one night stay in a York. What a mistake.
The room was absurdly hot even after turning the radiators off to the point where it was impossible to sleep at all. Humid, muggy and not good for anyone with asthma that is for sure. I can understand that this could sometimes happen in July, but December?? Absolutely ridiculous.
We were charged 6.60 for extra bottles of water (required to combat the heat) and were given an old broken desk fan which was so loud we thought it might take off.
This was all pretty poor but the worst thing of all was trying to explain this to the duty "manager". What an arrogant, sarcastic and patronising creature this lady was. A letter concerning her attitude and behaviour has been sent to head office for investigation so it would be wrong of me to comment further. But be warned, these people are not friendly. I would not recommend anybody stay here. £150 for no sleep and to be treated with such contempt?! Never again.
