“very relaxing break”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 February 2014

just returned from two night stay, upgraded room as it was my birthday, room 36 had to be the best room in the hotel, superb views of the minster, beautiful bathroom, very quirky room which i loved.best location in york, two minutes away from shops and restaurants.staff very pleasant. food lovely.would highly recommend this hotel, reviewed many hotels in york before i picked this one, so glad i did.would also recommend a visit to the spar, signature which is two minutes away from the hotel. will def be staying here again.also two minutes away from the station.so no long taxi journey to and from the station. really can not recommend this hotel highly enough.

Room Tip: ask for room 36 or rooms with views of the minster

We greatly enjoyed our two-night stay at this hotel. Room 20 was spacious and comfortable. The breakfast menu was extensive and of high quality, and we also enjoyed meals in the hotel bistro each evening. All the staff that we met were courteous and helpful. The weather during our visit was not good, but the hotel is so close to shops and tourist attractions that it didn't matter at all. We look forward to a return visit!

Room Tip: We only saw room 20, which has a large ensuite with walk-in shower and bath. Room overlooks the Min...

Best location in York, right next to the minster with parking.
Stayed for two nights to shop and dine in the centre.
Staff very happy and helpful, it's not a spa type hotel, just a small well run hotel offering excellent service and food.
Yes, our rooms were small, but as advertised, plenty of tea and coffee. Bathroom well appointed and lots of hot water.
Breakfast, wide choice on menu and very good, kippers, eggs Benedict.
Just step out the door straight in to the heart of York, so easy to find.

Room rate spot on for York booked via booking.com

We have just returned from 2 night break with our 5 yr old Daughter. The hotel is in the most wonderful location, a moments walk from Betty's Tea Rooms and the main shopping area and of course opposite the Minster! Our family room for 3 was spacious , spotless, well equipped and nicely decorated . The main reception area and bar/bistro is beautiful and photos do not do it justice. The quality of the food and the choice of food at breakfast was outstanding , we have stayed in higher grade hotels and it wasn't as good as here . Overall a great hotel, we will be returning. It is elegant , modern and traditional all at the same time. ( certain areas in room ready for a touch up of paint but that's been really picky!!)

We stayed at the Dean Court Hotel for 2 nights with our 15 year old son. We chose the hotel for its location right opposite the Minster and for its character. The room had a separate area with a bed for our son which wasn't huge but was plenty big enough for a couple of nights.Cooked breakfasts were particularly good and we enjoyed the view of the Monster from our breakfast table. The reception staff were very helpful. We will definitely return.

We went to York today to try and book 11 double rooms for 2 nights. This was for our family who will be attending our daughters wedding.

Receptionist really unhelpful. No way of booking 11 rooms. I asked how we were to book 11 rooms - no helpful reply given. Therefore we went to the excellent Cedar Court which sorted out our request with polished efficiency.

Just a pity DCH could not oblige as their location was perfect for our needs.

What a fabulous location, I could almost touch the Minster from my Bedroom. The staff were excellent and extremely helpful. Food was really good and the overall ambience brilliant. I would not hesitate to return.
