We have just returned from a one night stay at the Dean Court Hotel. It is definately worth its 4 stars and the location is excellent. When we arrived we were advised that we had been given a free room upgrade which was a lovely surprise. The hotel provided a valet parking service which was a real bonus. Our room was extremely clean and spacious and provided a great view of York Minster. We ate in the Hotel Bistro, the food was reasonably priced and enjoyable, the Bistro itself had modern furnishings and a nice relaxed atmosphere. The staff at the Hotel were attentive and extremely helpful. There was a varied cold buffet for breakfast and a menu was provided offering an excellent choice of cooked meals. This is great Hotel in a great location. Well worth booking

Room Tip: Our room was at the front of the Hotel. We stayed bank holiday Monday. It was very quiet throughout...

We stayed here for 3 nights in April on our 1st visit to York. The location is superb, right next door to the Minister and 2 mins from York city centre. We were well received, and the secure parking was a real bonus. The room was perfectly acceptable, with the hotel having been recently refurbished. We ate in the Bistro, which was very pleasant with good service and tasty food and breakfast was excellent. Unfortunately, as the lovely building is listed, there is not air conditioning in the rooms, which can get stuffy and we tried to sleep with the window open. Unfortunately, the main city taxi rank is right outside and the continual arrival, waiting and departures of taxis through-out the night, with the chatting taxi drivers led to three very poor nights sleep. If you are used to city noises this might not be a problem, but if you are used to quiet nights then bring some earplugs. I believe that the hotel is trying to get the taxi rank moved, and I sincerely hope that they succeed. .

A very comfortable and welcoming hotel with attentive and helpful staff. Conveniently located adjacent to the Minster and all downtown facilities. Everything we wanted to visit was within easy walking distance

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at this hotel. The location is excellent , right next to the minster and in the city centre. I booked it after reading reviews on trip advisor and glad I did. The hotel is clean, with a nice bar and lounge area. The breakfasts were lovely, buffet for cereals ,fruit etc then waitress service to order cooked options which were really nice. We had a family room for my husband and I and 3 teenaged children, which consisted of a double room then a smaller adjoining room with bunk beds and a single bed.The rooms were quite small but then there was 5 of us. It was very clean and the staff were very helpful. We had an issue with the bunk bed being very squeaky and whenever you moved it made a lot of noise but once we mentioned this at reception it was immediately repaired and chocolates left for my children as way of apology - a lovely touch. Also upon returning home my daughter realised she had left her pjs behind and again when we rang the receptionist said they had found them and posted them back to us.
All in all we had a very pleasant stay in a great location with very helpful staff. A good value city hotel,we would stay again if we return to York.

This was our first visit to York and stayed only one night with my husband and no children( for the first time ever).I read the reviews and came to the conclusion there was very few negative comments so that made my decision for me to stay at this hotel,-they were not wrong !! .The location was fantastic ,right by The Minister, the staff were very friendly, nothing was too much trouble for them. We arrived early and were able to leave our luggage and car, which was parked for us off site and went to explore the city. We returned late in the afternoon to find our room had been upgraded for us, and our luggage was in the room with our jackets already hung in the wardrobe -talk about room service!! .We were at the back of the hotel ,which was fine, the room was spotlessly clean, with a tv and dvd, and with a variety of tea, coffee and biscuits to help yourself to. The bed was so comfortable with a choice of pillows. The breakfast menu spoilt you for choice-tea, or coffee was brought to your table and toast if you wanted, you then could then help yourself to a variety of fruit juices, cereals, fruit and pastries, your waitress ordered your hot food which ranged from eggs in what ever way you wanted them cooked, smoked salmon, kippers, waffles or even a boring full English !!! All the staff were extremely friendly but Jayne seemed to go the extra mile, nothing was too much trouble for her. We checked out and again were able to leave the luggage, whilst we ventured into the city again till late on in the afternoon, when we returned to collect the car and our luggage which was even put in the car for us-service with a smile.
All in all ,a great overnight stay which unfortunately was not long enough which means a return visit in the near future, and would definitely stay in the Dean Court Hotel again.

The hotel is located right in the heart of the historic district. A very good value. The rooms are clean and nice while not necessarily luxurious - but because of the location you will spend most of your time out and about anyway. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Room Tip: Street side rooms hear the belltower ... which I like.
