“Cozy and affordable, but a bit far from city centre”
Reviewed 2 December 2010

Breakfast was well-cooked and delicious, with both cooked food to order available and a buffet table of mixed fresh fruits, yoghurt, probiotic drinks and cereal. The family was all extremely friendly and warm, and made our stay comfortable the best they could, but it was a bit of a far walk to the city centre, especially in winter (where the thick snow slows down walking quite significantly), about 30 minutes I would say, but perhaps 25 if you walked more briskly?

Gilchrist & Soames toiletries were provided, towels were replaced daily and there was even an iPod dock in the room - everything was excellent except the walk, so stay here if you don't mind a bit of a walk or have a car, but nearer to the city centre if the walk seems daunting.

We had a lovely weekend at the Limes. The Staff were lovely and helpful. The breakfast was great, just what you needed to set you up for the day.
It's a bit of a walk into town but the weather was good for us so we walked into town by the path down by the river, which is a lovely scenic walk, takes about 20-25 mins. If not you can always get the bus which stops just across the road. A taxi back costs about £6 which is reasonable too.

The room was very clean and I can't really find a fault with it, the bathroom was very small but that's about the only down side. It wasn't a problem for us. The staff were very helpful and the hotel generally had a lovely atmosphere. The bar is very nice with a lovely open fire. £4 a pint though, a bit on the pricey side.
All in all I really liked this hotel and chances are we will be going back!

We are really glad that you had a lovely weekend and thank you for your positive comments.
Our bar is nice and cosy with the open fire and if you were charged £4.00 I am sorry as that was a mistake and it should have been £3.00 for a pint of Grolsch. Our apolgies and we hope that you do come back to see us again soon as you said in your review. With Kind Regards
All at The Limes.

Fiona and her husband treated me and my father as family from the moment we arrived. They did everything I asked them with pleasure and I thank them for that. The room was as advertised on the internet, clean and cosy. I really enjoyed the freshly cooked breakfast every morning. I would definately recommend The Limes to anybody as I will be checking in again in the future.

We stayed at the Limes for three nights and found it to be very comfortable, clean and friendly. Our room and the breakfasts were excellent.
It is a 25 minute walk to the centre. On a good day it is a lovely walk along the river. A smidge of a hike back if you are loaded up with shopping, but I understand there are busses available if need be.

The car parking facilities at the hotel are good.

Just returned from a 3 night stay with my wife at the Limes Hotel. We were both very pleased and impressed with the whole experience of staying at this family run hotel. The service, politeness, and courtesy was superb. The accommodation and breakfasts were excellent.
Pleasantly situated just outside the city with a very pleasant 25 minute walk along the riverside to the centre. Good car parking facilities at the hotel and free, all made for a very pleasurable stay.
Highly recommended. Will definitely stay again on our next visit.
