Arrived at lunchtime and room was ready for us.This is a very large buiding and to get to our room we needed to take 2 different lifts which was a bit of a jaunt. The room was spacious, clean and well equipped.Heating/air-con can be adjusted to suit your needs. The bed was 2 3/4 beds
shoved together but with only one duvet this could be a bit dodgy as it was only just the width of the bed.The other little niggles were 1) although the room was perfectly clean, the patio windows were really dirty,2) No toilet brush in rooms.Where has this idea come from? We went to a pound shop, bought one and left it there. For the cost of a pound or less, why cant they give each new guest a new one.Niggles done,we han a nice view over the river, and a small balcony.Breakfast was a huge selection of very good food to suit every taste and the position was just a few minutes walk to town centre

Room Tip: Our room was on 2nd floor with river view and suited us fine,I think the rooms overlooking the river on floors 7 and 8 have wonderful view over cathedral and town

Stayed at this hotel from 19th- 22nd Nov, having read some of the reviews on Trip Advisor was a bit worried, but I need not of been, the lady on check in was lovely even though we were a bit early she checked us in straight away, explained times for breakfast, and where to go. We had a double room over looking the river, room was very clean well presented , as was the bathroom. Only thing the room would befit from was some drawers, there was only hangers for clothes, so nowhere to put underwear etc . The hotel is in a great location to main shops, pubs and resturants, with secure parking. Just wish I had got the name of the lady on reception as the wifi would not work on our iPads and she sorted it out for us. All the staff we seen on our time spent there were nice and pleasant. All in all I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and would recommend it to other people looking to stay in York. Thanks again for a wonderful stay.

it was not actually that bad and it is a good place for a school to stay at. i did it was fantastic. the breakfast was spectacular. anything you could want. different varieties of food. but there was a lot of elderly people though but that was not a problem. unless if you are to loud (they will tell you off).

We stayed for two nights and found the room clean and presentable. The only problem was our king sized bed was actually two 3/4 beds shoved together and so if I rolled to the middle I started to sink through the gap. At £150 inc breakfast per night, I wouldn't have expected this.

The breakfast was good, plenty of hot food and it was refreshed regularly. Avoid if you don't like buffet style, go if you like good food and plenty of it.

We recently returned from a 2 night stay in the city at this hotel on a football break. Our usual hotel was not available so we booked this because we knew from past experience that it was in a handy location, five to ten minutes walk from the rail station and just over the river from the city centre. Everything lived up to our expectations.

On arrival booking in was easy with very helpful staff and that was our overall experience with the staff throughout our stay despite there being a conference taking place within the hotel which no doubt created a lot of extra work. We found the room clean and large enough for our purposes and this also applied to the bathroom which had a decent sized shower cubicle.

That said there were a couple of very minor gripes .Firstly there seemed to be only one choice of pillows on the bed, both soft. We would have liked to see a hard or a soft pillow option available. Also the bathroom doors all seemed rather squeaky which did cause a little missed sleep as one of our neighbours seemed to be having fun opening and closing theirs constantly in the wee small hours until a visit from I assume staff put a stop to it. We had an inside room overlooking an inner court which meant that when the bedroom lights are on you have to close the curtains as you can be seen from the other corridors. However, these are very minor and on the whole did not have an adverse affect on the quality of our sleep. We certainly heard no noise from outside the hotel.

We did not try the restaurant in the evening so cannot comment on that but certainly the bar staff were very attentive as were the breakfast crew. Breakfast had plenty of variety and quality and as it was self-service it was as plentiful as you wanted it to be.

Overall we had a very enjoyable stay at this hotel at what we felt was a reasonable price and when we re-visit the city will be left with a very difficult decision as to where to stay.
