Just enjoyed a stay here, friendly staff, upgraded to room on second floor with view of the tower and received a welcome pack for little extra money, thanks. Ideal location to explore York, great breakfast, nice to be greeted by enthusiastic staff. Also parked here, would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Worth paying for upgrade if possible, overlooking the Tower.

My husband booked the hotel for two nights as a surprise for our anniversary, we arrived quite late on Friday night and had been given an upgrade. The staff were warm friendly and extremely helpful in recommending a place to eat. On the second evening we ate in the elegant hotel restaurant where again we were greeted by a lovely surprise of balloons on our table and an anniversary card, the food was terrific. Over all the hotel is in a fantastic location, every member of staff from reception to bar to domestic we're friendly, happy and extremely helpful . The food at breakfast and evening time was out standing. We will definitely be returning.

we chose this hotel purely on the fact that it was The Hilton and expected good things of it. The Hotel wasnt as plush as you might expect, but the room was comfortable and very clean. My only critisim is that the room was small. barely enough room to pull the chair out from dressing table before hitting the bed. good size bathroom though. excellent breakfast and good service. overall good value for money.

We visited in February and its unlikely we will stay here again. Check in was slow as staff were busy chatting. Room, although v clean was outdated, overlooked a roof and no air con. Pillows were flat as pancakes. I think we got the basic rooms in the hotel. Bathroom was very nice and modern. We'd booked a shopping package which included return taxi fares to McArthur Glen Outlet, a goody bag and afternoon tea. It took three visits to reception to sort out as no one at central Hilton had made the York staff aware. The goody bag contained a golf tee, 3 samples of men's aftershave, men's eye cream and a book light. Not great for two women! Taxi journey home was a farce and took 4 phone calls to sort out because the hotel hadn't given me an advanced slip for the return journey. Afternoon tea at the hotel was quite frankly the worst I've ever had the misfortune to 'eat'. The bread on the sandwiches was multicoloured (orange, green, dark brown and yellow) and tasted like it had been frozen - the butter confirmed this when it was in a thin layer you could almost peel away. Cakes were an absolute disgrace - I've never seen a tea where you didn't get each cake twice - this came with one each of coffee cake, brownie, fruit cake and frangipani cake. All small cubes and very dry - we cut each in half which barely made a mouthful each and we left 4 halves because they were that inedible. There were two macaroons but they were dry and tasteless - and also got left. The scones were stale and we sent them back. Two more appeared and too tasted dry - not sure if stale or that's how they were supposed to be but again were foul. The couple at the table next to us got 2 scones each for a cream tea and left them as we'll. At no point did any staff ask how the afternoon tea was. Breakfast the next morning was nice apart from the coffee and warm orange juice. Fantastic selection of breads, cereal, cooked breakfast and a freshly cooked egg stand. Drinks extortionate in the hotel bar - especially with o many pubs and bars on the doorstep. Can't fault the location and concierge - top notch and concierge very friendly unlike the reception staff

Great location in the city center with really really friendly people in the hotel, breakfast and bar area. Just opposite of Cliffords Tower, it was a perfect location within walking distance to the train station, Minster, York University etc.

Boyfriend booked this for one night on valentines. He asked for a room gesture which they didn't do. The room had a door inside which led to the room next door but was kept locked. There was no fridge. The view from our room window was an old abandoned building. Bed was comfy. Telly okay. Sofa and long mirrors in the room. Bathroom quite small. Close to Pizza Hut and a walk into the centre. Wouldn't come here again.
