Stumbled upon this best of the best western hotels in York England It.s a healthy stretch of the legs to the city center( approx 20 mins) for the active walker but an interesting historical walk if you take the Roman Wall route from Michelsgate Bar to the Center attractions
the hotel itself is a converted wine merchants premises circa mid 1800's.

the restaurant serving dinner to both residents and non is in the old Wine Cellar and has a perfect cellar type atmosphere stone and brick walls low ceilings and a small cozy bar area

parking is free and lots of it something of a rarity in York

The hotel is well kept and the rooms are spacious and comfortable the staff are fantastic and extremely helpful Chis Mandy and Matt are the best staff one could wish to have in any hotel we stay at and we stay at many

We stayed one night, family of 5 in a 1 bdr family room, and everything was ready for us on arrival. No problems or complaints. Excellent indoor heated pool which the kids loved; easy 15min stroll to centre of town; free parking at the hotel. This is a charming comfortable boutique style hotel with loads of charm and excellent customer service at front desk and restaurant. Highly recommend.

Stayed at the Kilima for 2 nights on a short break. Really enjoyed our stay. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable, and the leisure facilities (gym and small pool) were a real bonus. Also the free use of a computer and internet came in very handy.

Dinner on the first night was included in the package we booked and the food was very good. Breakfast was also nice, in particular the croissant with smoked salmon and scrambled egg. I had a full English breakfast on the first morning which I found a little bit greasy but otherwise fine.

The hotel is about 10-15 mins walk from the station and another 5-10 mins to get to the town centre. You can catch a bus but we enjoyed the walk. I have not stayed in a Best Western hotel before but would certainly recommend this one.

We booked this with a Superbreak deal and would have preferred something a bit nearer the City Centre but with a regular bus service outside the hotel so it was fine. The room was clean with a good shower but above the kitchen and next to the stairs made it a bit noisy.
All in all OK and friendly staff and a cracking breakfast!

Just back from a 2 night stay at the kilima in York. Booked this hotel through super break and received a good deal including train travel. On arrival we met Chris who checked us in efficiently and was extremely friendly and helpful. This was great since the station taxi driver was not very friendly. Chris gave us lots of helpful info about the hotel and even upgraded us to a bigger room which we didn't even ask for! The room was clean and spacious and ideal for our two night stay. If I had to make any constructive criticism then I would say that our pillows could have been softer however I'm sure that if we had complained then they would have been changed without a problem. Breakfast both days was great and served very quick and hot. I would definately recommend the croissant with cheese and bacon! The full English breakfast was also very good and not greasy. The hotel also has a swimming pool which we used each day. The leisure club was very clean and we had all the facilities to ourselves both days. Would definately recommend this hotel to others. Super 3 star.

my husband and i stayed at this hotel it is more 2star than 3.the staff were very nice especially
the manager. our room was ok apart from a brown stain on the mattress and the bathroom floor was dirty in the corners the pipes were very dusty. york was great during the day but at night full of very drunken hen and stag parties.

Room Tip: room on first floor at the side
