We stayed here last week just as the snow was beginning to melt so the car park was a bit slushy as it was not tarmaced. However this was a minor issue and not a complaint, just an observation. The rest of the two nights that we spent at this hotel were an absolute dream. The staff are very efficient, friendly and attentive and did their best to ensure we had a lovely time.

We had booked this break through a travelzoo deal and it was excellent value. The room we had was lovely, warm and clean and the furnishings were of a high standard. The breakfast was lovely, nothing was too much trouble. My husband is not a fan of cooked breakfasts and asked for smoked salmon, fried egg and beans and this was provided without a qualm, just with a littlefriendly banter about the unusual request.

We had a 3 course evening meal included in our deal, and yes we were given a more restricted menu to choose from as we were on the deal, but what choice was available to us was varied and we had no difficulty making our selection. The food was beautiful, well prepared and very flavoursome and the candlit restaurant, quite romantic. We also had an afternoon tea of cakes and scones included, which enabled us to spend a pleasant time in the lounge in the afternoon, eating cakes and chatting to other guests about things in general.

Really enjoyed it here, and will certainly return. Thank you for looking after us so well.

We had a one night stay with 5 other couples. Even though there was a wedding taking place, there were quiet areas to dine and lounge.
The staff , including dining and reception, were extremely friendly and welcoming and we had great service in a private dining room. Food was great, no complaints from any of our party.
Breakfast was busy, with plenty of choice, but spread over several rooms, so very relaxing.
The hotel has a lot of character, as you would expect from an old georgian mansion, but still good amenities with spotless room and ensuite.
Great position, about a mile from ring road/York designer outlet and York centre.

Room Tip: Rooms near the front, 1-17, get a bit of traffic noise, not enough to disturb sleep, but are well away from function rooms.

Booked hotel through a Travelzoo deal, the hotel was very clean and the staff were first class, very welcoming. The hotel was very cosy and welcoming as fires were lit daily in all the public rooms. Free parking which is always a bonus and the location was brilliant for visting Central York, a lovely ten minute walk along the River, or the cost of a taxi was about £6. The buffet breakfast had everything you could wish for and the food in the restaurant was fantastic well worth a visit. Our deal came with afternoon tea which consisted of four pieces of cake each, more than we could eat. I would definately recommend this hotel and will be returning.

From the moment we arrived at this hotel the atmosphere was fantastic. The ambience, the staff, the managers, the food were all excellent. We actually went on a trip advisor offer but we would definitely go again without the offers. The staff couldn't do enough for you, nothing was too much trouble, and the food they served was excellent, breakfast was varied with fresh fruit and a well cooked hot english.Dinner was one of the best meals i have had in any restaurant. It is a 35 minute walk into York or you can catch a bus close by. We were upgrade to a room with a 4 poster bed which was well equipped with a nice bathroom. Altogether a very good 3 day stay.

My husband and I stayed here this week whilst on a visit to see our daughter who is at York University. We found the room comfortable and very clean. We did not eat but the restaurant looked very cosy and welcoming. Breakfast was excellent with a very good choice of fruit, cereal and cooked options. Staff were very helpful and extremely polite. Would definitely stay here again.
