We know York well but after an absence of 2 years decided to have a short break at this hotel. we booked via the BW site and the package was excellent value £126 for B&B for 2 people for 2 nights. The breakfasts were excellent and we had one evening meal which was very good. The Hotel is actually in the village of Fulford which is now a suburb of York. It is about a half hour walk to the city centre and if you veer off the fulford road you can walk by the river all the way into the city centre. If you do not fancy a walk then there are plenty of buses. We stayed for a short break after visiting relatives in Cumbria on our way home to Norfolk we will stay here again. If you do not want to eat at the hotel there are 2 or 3 pubs within short walking distance from the hotel. there is parking for about 50 cars at the hotel. I did not see any lifts and it is an old building so i do not think it would be suitable for people with disabiliities

The hotel was great value for money. I booked 2 rooms, one which was a standard twin and the other which was a deluxe double. The rooms were so spacious and the four poster bed was amazing and so comfortable. The staff were so helpful and very professional. The breakfast was good qualify and we all had the full English. We also had a choice of cereals, toasts etc. I would recommend this hotel for staying near York as it's not in the centre, however parking is free/easy and you can get in to the centre relatively easily. Overall a great value hotel and for the same price as a budget hotel such as the travelodge, well worth it.

Walking distance to shopping and sights! Staff very helpful and friendly. Rooms need updating, but clean and nice. Breakfast served in very nice dining room! Best Westerns in UK are nicer than US! Why is that?

We always use this hotel for a overnight stay in York.Great for parking and walking into York takes about 30 to 40 minutes to shambles . You can catch the bus right outside the hotel.Taxi approx £7 - 7.50 only takes a few minutes. The hotel is really nice and plenty of choice for breakfast the staff are always friendly and helpful. The standard rooms are average but we upgrade with are Best Western card at no extra cost.We always find best way to book is direct with Best Western or online with hotel.

Stayed at the York Pavilion Hotel for my sons stag weekend. The hotel was chosen for it,s location being close to York centre.First impressions weren't very good as the reception is in a narrow hallway that was filled with guests of a wedding being held there. We had to battle our way through the wedding guests in the bar to access the stairs to our room. When booking in,I was told that my room was above the function room and to expect some noise. Some noise was an understatement ,you couldn't hold a conversation with someone In the room for the din below. The room was small and dated and didn't reflect the £100+ per night. This hotel,s main income is as a wedding venue (there were three weddings the weekend we stayed)and isn't mentioned when booking. Our group were asked to leave the bar for the wedding guests which I found unacceptable. We paid over a thousand pounds in total to stay there and as paying guests you expect to be able to use the facilities. In my opinion the hotel shouldn't take bookings when hosting weddings. To sum up,the hotel is tired and dated, expensive and mismanaged.I have stayed in many Best Western hotels, and have to say this is the worst one I have stayed in.
