“Our return visit to the best western york pavilion.......”

I know I have written a review in this hotel before, but we returned this year for our silver wedding anniversary and thought I would update you all. I think the fact we returned to the hotel says we were pleased with it the first time round, but when you revisit a place you can't help but draw comparisons with your previous experience. Well we weren't disappointed. They really made our stay very special. The service was excellent, special thanks to Dan and Jamie. The room was lovely with a huge four poster bed, we stayed in 'aunty Marjorie's' room and it had a patio door onto a balcony - just lovely with a view over one of the gardens. If I had to make one suggestion it would be that the chef grills the breakfast as opposed to frying it, but that was no biggy as there was plenty to choose from. I would recommend this hotel to anyone as it is an ideal location for getting into york and the surrounding areas. An affordable luxury treat. Thanks again to everyone and see you hopefully next year.

Room Tip: Aunty Marjorie's room has a huge four poster bed that takes up most of the room, but it is lovel...

Booked this hotel as passing through area and wanted to visit McArthur Glen Shopping Outlet. Found hotel to suit all my needs. Friendly staff, good reception, loved the 'India' room we were given, good furnishings and large bathroom. Comfortable beds, free Wi-Fi, plenty of car-parking. Breakfast was good quality though service was quite slow. Went to Bay Horse Pub just down the road and had lovely reasonably priced bar meal there. Would be happy to recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: I was very happy with the India Room.

We only stayed one night but thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Building has character, staff very friendly and helpful, good food and pleasantly furnished and comfortable room. The bed, whilst comfortable, did tend to slope away from the middle on one side,so could do with upgrading. Very good bus service from outside the door going into city one way or to designer outlet in other direction - very convenient, no need to use the car.

Room Tip: We were in room 58, and friends were in room 57. These were fine but quite a distance to walk. Didn...

We would readily recommend the hotel, an interesting building which manages to combine successfully the original house with the extensive additions. Our room was very comfortable and clean. The staff were all very helpful and 'smiley' especially the younger staff (a majority).
Although the first night of our three night stay coincided with a wedding reception, we were not in any way inconvenienced. Service in the bar and restaurant was of a high standard and we were able to have our coffee served (with delicious fudge and biscuits) in the charming residents' lounge by an open fire.
We were able to take advantage of a frequent bus service into the city centre, with bus stops almost directly outside the hotel. Perhaps the hotel could put more emphasis on the huge variety of shops which the city offers, surely amongst the best in England.

Rge staff here were everything you could want - friendly, helpful, warm and welcoming, and always willing to spend time giving out advice and directions. All led to a very welcoming atmosphere for us.
The room itself was well-fitted, clean and comfortable, but altogether a little on the shabby side without the chic.
Although both room and hotekl were clean enough, yje wear and tear detraxts from this and actually gives a feel of lack of cleanliness where none exists.
A general upgrading and refreshment of the place and it would easily be 5/5.
Be warned - bit of a hike to town centre.

The bathroom in our room is bigger than our lounge at home!! There was a huge working fireplace in our bathroom, with towels being big enough to wrap up a horse!! The soap in the bathroom was gorgeous "Lily of the Valley". Our room was up stairs to a divine room and we went past many nooks and grannies and overlooked a stunning garden and a covered outside bar. The breakfast was slow but divine, and we didn't care, as we had all the time in the world. The dinning room was stunning. Plenty of carparking and very close to town - we walked and it was a breeze. The staff were lovely and helpful. We loved this hotel.
