My Husband and I have just come back from a 2day break at the Pavilion hotel, the staff are excellent and we were looked after very well, meals were also excellent on both the nights we stayed, worthy of a top class restaurant , the only thing I might say is it would be nice if the waitress and waiters that are in training had their names on the badge instead of in training Louise who served us on both nights was a delightful girl but I had to ask her what her name was, the room we stayed in was a different matter lovely comfy bed but very dark as a large tree outside of the window the whole room could do with decorating as wallpaper had seen better days, the bathroom door would not shut or lock, a corroded soap dish mounted on the wall did not make the bathroom very appealing , I did not use the shower as the shower head was disgusting corroded and green,we were unfortunate our room was above a function room and the music was very loud keeping us awake till midnight !! , I think the music could have been turned down a bit more after say 10.30 we would stay at this hotel again as very convenient for the park and ride bus which stops outside of the hotel but I would not want to stay in room 28 again

I very much enjoyed staying at this hotel last week (2 nights) that I subsequently stayed an additional 2 nights this week on my return journey back to London. The staff delivered excellent service, the food was of very good quality and the rooms very comfortable. A big thank you to everyone.

On Sat 21 July we had booked a party of 13 for dinner at the above restaurant. We arrived early but everything was ready and waiting despite a wedding already asking place in the main rooms. It appeared that most of the hotel was booked but the staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent, well presented and piping hot. 100% to all the staff.

What a fantastic wedding day!!! From the moment we stepped out of the wedding car until the moment we stepped out of the hotel the following morning everything was perfect. Every member of staff we dealt with on the day were friendly, helpful and very attentive. From our first meetings with Daisy and Courtney months ago everything ran smoothly and the day flowed without any problems. We moved house the week before our wedding so to have such an easy time planning the wedding was fantastic. Highly recommend!!

Initial thoughts were that the photos didn't really show that the hotel was up against the main road. But turning into the car park it felt like you were suddenly in a country hotel, with pretty gardens. The hotel itself was a bit tired in places and there was water damage visible in some areas which did detract a little. Service was very good throughout our stay and the breakfasts were fine. We didn't eat dinner there as the bar area was normally pretty empty and the brasserie looked a little formal. There were conferences and events each night so car parking got a bit tight but we could always get a space. Interestingly our room was over the smoking area and the cleaner opened our window each morning so it had been open all day by the time we got back. Firstly not ideal for security, but also if smokers were sat under out window then surely the smoke would be drifting into our room? There is a £100 fine if they think you have smoked in the room. Overall a very pleasant stay. Plus points -a quiet oasis within a half hour walk of York City centre, excellent service overall.
