We have stayed at this hotel before and always enjoyed our stay. Our room was lovely, a good size, but unfortunately at the front of the hotel, so a lot of traffic noise. However, we booked it on-line at a good rate, so no major complaints.

We like the location. It is not far from the bypass to go to Scarborough, Bridlington or elsewhere. You can drive into York very easily and we did in the evenings, but during the day it's best to use the bus (frequent service), just across the road, or maybe walk as other reviewers have done.

For some reason I had problems with WIFI. The Hotel staff tried hard to help solve the problem, but in the end lent me a cable to plug in for direct broadband.

There is a small cosy lounge where you can sit and relax and read.

We had one evening meal at the Hotel. It was very good and a special meal deal, so good value too although the service was slow. Breakfasts were very good and the staff friendly and helpful.

Throughout our stay, the staff were always friendly and ver helpful.

I would have liked to see freeview or satellite on the TV, rather than just channels 1-5.

Overall, very good, we will go back.

We stayed for three nights and from the moment we checked in staff were welcoming and friendly. The hotel is in a good position for getting into York without the car! We walked along the river path which took 20 mins, we could have done it quicker but we just ambled along.
Tried to get into Betty's tea rooms but of course it was very busy, I think you need to get there very early to get a seat. Bus services to and from the hotel are good, no 7 red line drops off outside. The same bus will also take you to the shopping outlet some brill shops there.
Our room was overlooking a courtyard, yes there was noise from the fans in the kitchen but they didn't disturb us too much and we had the window open all the time. The room could do with a spruce up(damp patch on the ceiling didn't look good) We dined once in the hotel food was very nice, steak was cooked just to my liking. Staff again very attentive and friendly. Breakfasts although busy still felt relaxed and we didn't have long to wait for freshly cooked food, there was a selection of cold dishes available or cereals if we wanted. Whilst the hotel is a lovely building with little courtyards which are cosy to sit and chat in and it's in a good position for exploring yorkshire, it's the staff who make the York Pavlion an excellent place to stay and want to go back to.

Situated in pretty little village just outside York. Very easy to get into York without taking your car as it is on the bus route with the bus stop just outside the hotel and only a 10 min. ride gets you into the city. Food was very good, we ate our dinner in the relaxed bar area called the Walnut Grove which overlooks a pretty courtyard.. We had a really lovely 2 course steak meal with free glass of wine for £9.00 each. The staff were efficient and friendly and there was a lovely charming ambience.

We wanted somewhere close to York centre, but hotels were charging a small fortune for parking overnight so we ended up about 2 miles from the centre at the Pavillion. We had to drive into town, but it still worked out cheaper for just a few hours stay. P&R is available.
The hotel is relatively grand, with 'posh' dining rooms and lounge, nice outside spaces and the rooms were typical chain-hotel standard and type, enough room to swing a cat, but only just. Our room was not in the main hotel but a modern extension to the rear.
The only real problem we had was that having booked a 'quiet' room at the back of the hotel (it is situated on the main A19 road into town), we were kept awake by the kitchen air conditioning that stayed on unit until midnight and then restarted around 6:30. The thin walls meant we also heard our (presumably smoking) neighbours' coughing antics each morning; not very pleasant. However, the bed, though seemingly firm, gave quite a good night's sleep. We booked on a Room-only basis, saving quite a lot compared to the B&B rate.
If possible book well in advance using Best Western special offers to get a good deal, but close to time I'd suggest booking direct with the hotel, there may still be rooms available even though BW say there are not.
Overall, reasonable to good.

Hotel is close to A64 and on the A19 close to the Designer Outlet Mall which also has a Park and Ride. Hotel has free parking but when we checked in it was full due to a seminar. We opted to go to the P&R and take the bus into York for the afternoon. When we returned, we found a parking space with no problem. The room was nice although a little small but amenities were good although no airco but there was a fan in the room which gave some relief. The hotel has a bar and a restaurant and we opted for a lighter bar meal but were a little disappointed. The sandwich I had was good but was a little overcooked so tough to eat and the chips were very much undercooked. My husbands salmon fishcakes were a little lacking in salmon. I did give feedback on the undercooked chips, which I did not eat, but wasn't offered any reduced price. Breakfast was included in our room rate, which was surprising since we booked on Priceline, and it was pretty good. It was a buffet as far as cold items and toast then you ordered your choice of hot items including scrambled egg and smoked salmon. The hotel offered free wifi too. Overall a good experience and we would go back to this hotel again.
