I've stayed in many Premier Inns. The one in York North shares many of the characteristics of the brand but this one has a couple of differences.
First, the good points. Much like other Premier Inns. Good location a coup,e of miles out of the city centre. Plenty of free parking. Pub next door (not enough time to visit it but it looked good). Familiar layout.
Querky point: has an innovative bathroom door (like Coventry south) that allows you to let your spouse to use the rest of the bathroom if you are on the loo! Or you can shut yourself into the whole bathroom if you prefer, using the same door.
Now the bad points. Terrible smell from the sink water! It's a rotten egg smell which is not very nice. I know that to get rid of it you have to drain the system down and flush it through before refilling it. Told the morning receptionist about it who confirmed that others had complained and even she knew that the water system needied to be drained. The hotel obviously knows about the problem and needs to get it done. Personally I would not stay at this hotel again until the problem has been fixed.
Evening receptionist told us about the high staff turnover. The hotel needs to tackle staff moral and stop them telling guests about the hotel's problems!More
