First time we've stayed at this Premier Inn. Arrived tired after a very early start that morning. Found the lady on reception very friendly and polite. Very professional answering any questions we had. Restaurant staff very friendly, good choice on the menu and specials board.
Breakfast staff very friendly and efficient. Room was very clean and bed excellent as always. would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Was initially given Room 204 next to the top of the stairs, plagued by noise from people dragging suitcases up the stairs and slamming the security door which is very inconveniently placed for anyone with luggage. Could not put up with it after about 60 minutes, thump, thump, thump, BANG. Very helpful desk staff changed my room for a better located one. Was told that room 201 suffers from same problem!

This is a newish Premier Inn so rooms are quite small compared to older buildings. Only about 500mm gap between bed and fixed wardrobe. Not good if you have a pushchair or are a wheelchair user. TV is inconveniently located just below the ceiling. Guaranteed to give you a stiff neck if you watch for more than 30 minutes. Who on earth designed this? Not sufficient room to pull chair out from under desk as obstructed by sofa bed in small room as mentioned. Inconvenient if you are trying to use a laptop on the desk provided.

Bathroom consists of shower and toilet plus tiny sink area. Very poor in terms of space and inconvenient in layout. In room 111 which I finished up in, there was visible mould in the shower and the shower head pipe was damaged spraying water out horizontally and doubtless contributing to the damp. There was also signs of damp elsewhere in the bathroom. Soap dispenser was not working, had to be dismantled to get any soap out. Other than the bathroom mould the rest of the room was very clean.

Breakfast food is average quality but good selection. Evening meals are at "The Dormouse", a Vintage Inn opposite. Food and service were very good at this establishment.

One the plus side for the hotel:
Hotel is convenient for park & ride into central York. Beds are comfortable and I did get a good nights sleep in room 111. The main saving grace for this hotel is the very helpful and polite staff, both on the desk and at breakfast.

In summary, AVOID rooms 201, 204 and 106. Be prepared to get a stiff neck watching the TV. Other local Premier Inns are better in terms of room quality.

Room Tip: AVOID rooms 201, 204 and 106.

The staff were very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was delicious with perfect poached eggs. Would definitely stay here again. Transport into York every 10 minutes with bus stop just over the road from the hotel.

I stopped at this hotel while working in York. It has everything you would expect from a Premier Inn and is well maintained. The staff at the front desk were very helpful and friendly, and the room was large and comfortable.

The room had plentiful tea/coffee, lots of wardrobe space, decent hairdryer and soft towels. The shower gel is a bit on the thin side. The chairs and bed were comfortable and you have the choice of soft/firm pillows. The room was a bit cold when I got there but the thermostat can be adjusted to make the electric heater turn on.

The Doormouse pub round the corner serves great food for the evening and the staff there really make an effort.

The hotel breakfast is very varied and plentiful. The cooked breakfast is all you can eat - you just choose what you want off the menu and they do lots of grilled options as well as fried. There is also a full range of continental items, cereal and a great range of tea/coffee. They provide soy milk too as well as regular. Overall definitely worth the extra expense.

The wifi is free for the first half hour, and £3 for 24 hours. I got a 24 hour code but it lasted me for the full 2 days I was there. It was a reasonably good connection, but sometimes a bit slow.

Although the hotel was good, it was very expensive for what it was. The stay cost over £200 for 2 nights, which is too much for a hotel that claims it doesn't charge 'premier' prices. However, the price was high in all the hotels in York that weekend with a lot of them fully booked so maybe there was an event happening that pushed the demand and prices up.

We have just returned from a four day break in York. I chose this premier inn because it had free onsite parking. I have to say we werent disappointed, The welcome we received was lovely. The staff are wonderful, especially Joanne, Vicky and Sam. Nothing was too much trouble. But on the downside the walls are really quite thin, and it didnt help having noisy people in the room next door on our first night. Maybe it was just our room (103). It was one of the smallest Premier Inn rooms we have had, but we only used it for sleeping as we were out all day. The bed was one of the comfiest we have had. Our room only had a shower, no bath. But that suited us just fine. It was a good powerful shower.
Breakfast is served in the hotel rather than the pub next door. But we chose to eat in York so I cant comment on the food, but it smelt lovely.
It took us between 10 and 15 mins to drive into town.

My husband and I stayed here 12th - 14th November 2013. Chose this hotel due to it`s quiet location, yet a bus stop just a very short walk away on the main road. "First Day" ticket cost just £3.70 per person and you could use the ticket on the local buses all day. Just a ten minute journey time into York city centre, so no need to use the car! Breakfast in the hotel was very good, with everything you would expect from "Continental" to "Full English" No meals were available on site apart from breakfast but this wasn`t a problem as an excellent pub, The Dormouse, was next door serving very good quality food at a reasonable price.
The very best part of our stay however, were the staff in this hotel. Every single one of them were very hard working, helpful, cheery and couldn`t do enough for you! This was our first (long overdue) visit to York and we couldn`t have received a better welcome. On checking out, I commented to the member of staff on reception about the wonderful staff in the hotel and my words were very much appreciated! We loved York and it`s friendly people and If we were visiting York again, this is the hotel we would choose without a doubt!

Room Tip: No lift in hotel, so if stairs a problem, request ground floor room when booking.
