“Great way to see York!!!”
Reviewed 4 June 2014

The bus tour round the city was excellent. We saw far more of York than we could have ever done on foot. We didn't hop off and on but remained on the bus for the whole circuit. It was very informative and we thoroughly enjoyed it.

“rip the tourist off”
Reviewed 1 June 2014

we visited York last week and as it was raining, typical British weather. we thought a bus trip would be a nice way to see the city. the tour guide promised a wonderful trip full of historical info with lovely scenery. what we got was a dull hour long trip. once you have stopped for ten minutes at each bus stop you get to move on. yes it stops at the railway station, museum, minster and Cliffords tower the rest of the journey is pointless. the fact that it follows the city walls is lost once you have gone through a housing estate and gone past Sainsbury's. the latter part could quite easily be missed. the best part is that you can get on and off as many times as you wish in the twenty four hours your ticket is valid. the stupid thing is it only runs in one direction so if you want to go anywhere that is back down the line on the schedule you have to spend an hour on the bus. twelve pound per adult too expensive. we will not ever use this service again. complete rip off

“Always sit up the top”
Reviewed 1 June 2014

Any time you are in a new city, large or small - this is the way to get your bearings and an overview of the place. First time in York - we enjoyed our tour on this Hop On Hop Off bus - we always do the full circuit and then pick somewhere to get off on the second lap. You always miss something in the commentary on the first time around - so it doesn't hurt to hear it again.
There are plenty of stops and the frequency is good. We always sit up the top in the open (you get a better view and can take photos easily). Even though we got the first bus of the day and it was chilly - it was well worth sitting up there. It is a nice ride. We got off at Bootham Bar and walked the walls.
We find the bus handy for delivering us back to our home base as well (because we were near one of the stops). Once you've had a walk around and exhausted yourself during the day - use the bus, enjoy the commentary once again and get delivered back to where you started from.
**Tip - Keep your tickets as you get a discount if you use the same company in other cities.

“Nice time filler”
Reviewed 1 June 2014

Like many travellers I think city tourist buses are a rip-off. I noticed City Sightseeing York was operated by Transdev so clearly it was going to be properly run. And so it proved. It's not particularly cheap but my concession fare of UKP 8.0 was acceptable. I had a couple of hours to kill so I went around sitting on one side of the bus then around again sitting on the other side. I enjoyed the trip and saw a few things I hadn't seen while walking through York. Recommended.
