Free admission and the greatest exhibition of railway locomotives, rolling stock, equipment and everything else related to railways that you could ever wish to see. Plenty of history and information, all presented in layman's terms and designed to appeal to young and old.

The range of locos and rolling stock, all under cover, is very good, but I was hoping for more displays about railway engineering. A couple of displays were not available (it was January to be fair) and when you consider the entrance is free, I cannot complain at all.

An excellent museum and free entry !!

well worth a visit.

However, we do miss the "short holiday-theme videos" they used to play. for some reason, they no longer do so !

please bring them back. they were very interesting.

We love it here. An absolute gem of a place for a free day out. My 4 year old son loves it, and it holds the interest of my 7 year old daughter too. The Japanese Bullet train that you can sit on is especially interesting, as is the engine that is currently being restored.

Boys with the slightest interest in trains, railway history or engineering could spend days in here. My wife had seen enough after 45 minutes though. Plenty for kids to do and plenty of food options if you make a day of it.
