The National Railway Museum had been recommended but we went along not sure what to expect and with little interest in railways. This museum was a revelation. Excellent display of engines from the "Rocket" to the Japanese "Bullet Train" in the main engine shed and an evocative display of engines, carriages and other railway artefacts in the 'station'. Guides and volunteer guides very informative and helpful. Whilst we were at the museum, a very entertaining practical display and talk was given about the turntable. Entry is free but we had no hesitation in giving a donation as the museum is so worthy. A high quality attraction that is informative and entertaining. Just 10 minutes walk from the city centre.
