A well maintained National Trust property our visit was greatly helped by well informed and helpful volunteers. The interior is rather lavish and full of things of interest. Also benefits from a small garden and tea room.

Spent about 40 mins looking around. Nice walled garden just behind the minster. Staff informative with interesting details about some of the artefacts and the former owner.

This house is owned by the National Trust and one of the many reasons why it is worthwhile to join..The house was given to the NT by Frank Green who restored it. He made it a condition that the contents were to stay in their entirety and the floor is marked so that items can be placed back exactly when cleaning takes place. It is worth going when the house is decorated for CHristmas as it looks extra beautiful and atmospheric. The house was the site of one of York's most famous hauntings when \ young man working there saw a Roman legion march past him. There is a dedicated exhibitio n and a recorded interview with the man when he was old - genuinely spine tingling

A very quirky place and well worth a visit. For a start the gardens at the front are very beautifully done. Once inside, you get such an incredible mixture of rooms decorations in all different styles, done in such eccentricity, that you will be amazed at every turn.

As a member visited here I only had a limited time here found the place a very formative with brochures in every room describing most of the objects. The entrance to the hose is cobbled road our guide outside says that the road is 15 feet higher now as it was in Roman times.the cafe downstairs was nice I had a pot of tea with cake £5. Will pop back here soon to browse a lot slower.
