We visited this hotel with A bus tour and were very pleased. Comfortable clean rooms. Nice bar and lounge. The food was fine but there were no menus to study, just the poor waiters rhyming off what was on to every table in turn. Laurel and Hardy theme throughout the hotel. Staff were friendly. The hotel is just outside the city gates on the south. You can walk through and over the bridge or go up on the wall and get a grand view. York is a lovely place to visit with lots to see.

Excellent staff ,breakfast up to standard, room acceptable.no wifi available. The ambience is dedicated to Laurel and Hardy, purely historical, with no actual visits by this amusing couple. A little disconcerting to come across a life size version of the larger guy in the bar!

Room Tip: Ground floor easy access suited us but no view

Me and my boyfriend are both 20 years of age. He booked this hotel for me for my birthday so it was a complete surprise.

The location of this hotel is excellent, only a 10 minute walk from the train station. It takes about 10-15 minutes to walk into the town centre which is brilliant.

The gardens on arrival looked stunning at the front . Check in was very fast and the staff were lovely and friendly.

Our room was modern spacious and had a comfortable double bed. We were on the top floor and had a lovely view of the gardens at the front. The bathroom was small but modern and clean. There is also a small table in the room which has a kettle with tea/coffee.

The hotel had a small bar downstairs which is handy and it was packed on a weekend, we never heard any noise from it though.

We has breakfast in the morning in the restaurant which was huge! There was a variety of fruits, cereals and bread which you could help yourselves to. We had the full English breakfast which I can't fault.

The overall value for money is excellent. I did not know what to expect from this 2* hotel but I was very impressed. Definitely will return!

Visited with a friend for 2 nights. Everything at this hotel is spot on. The room was large, clean and bathroom was fab. It's about a brisk 15 minute walk to the town centre. The service was second to none. Nothing was too much trouble. A special mention for Tanya. Exceptional service. She was friendly and very helpful, giving tips on best places in town to go at night for drinks and cocktails Tanya also arranged late check out the next day. All in all it's a great place to stay.
