booked for mates 40th birthday so just looking for somewhere near the bars . Location was great quiet street just up the road from city centre
all staff were friendly and helpful , room was clean and breakfast was fine
only minor complaints were the poor shower - very slow and not powerful and wifi didn't work in our room but for the price couldn't really complain
if you are looking for somewhere quiet and a good nights sleep then you cant go wrong

We stayed at Wheatlands Lodge for our ruby wedding weekend away in York and we were instantly impressed by the warm welcome we received. From then on, nothing was too much trouble, from shuffling cars around the car park for us to get in, to making sure the room had a shower comfortable for my tall husband, to keeping a few bottles of beer out of the fridge to accommodate his Englishman’s taste for warm beer when we arrived back from a theatre trip. Breakfast was just great with lots of choice and options to suit everyone. Thank you, you made our weekend and I hope we’ll be returning on our next ‘occasion’.

Found on Booking.com....What a find. Great staff, service and very clean room's. More than a 2 star accommodation. The breakfast is delicious and plentiful...evening meal is a set price of £18. For a four, YES 4 course...very good too..The only problem was parking...4 Spaces on the road at the front, at the rear of the hotel there are 6 spaces, and other guests park behind....but this IS not the hotels fault...parking is a premium of York....there is a bus stop outside, and taxis are avl..and its a 20 minutes walk into the city. Would i stay again....definitely!!

Room tip: Disabled..ask for ground floor as no lifts

This hotel is fantastic, like a home from home. Breakfast was delicious I can recommend the ham and eggs, great location to explore York and when you are weary nothing better than a nightcap by the real fire.

I love this hotel for the friendliness of the staff and proximity to the city centre.
I’ve been coming back to the hotel for the last 9 years after discovering it whilst studying at the acupuncture college.
I’ve stopped on my own and with the family. I’ve stopped in the hotel and the self catering accommodation (Mill mount)
Always made to feel welcome and will continue to return.
Value for money, breakfasts are good and the only downside is the small carpark but I’ve always managed to park close by if the carpark has been full.
Would highly recommend
