We returned to this hotel following a coach trip earlier in the year.
Our previous experience was more than duplicated this time. Lovely friendly staff. ( new apprentice Carly)
Tim and Fiona were fantastic proprietors but the other team members were well trained, friendly and efficient. The leadership proves success.
Our room was lovely, warm and welcoming. - I loved having my first foaming bath for several years..!!! Shower warm and powerful.
Breakfast was varied and plentiful.
Dinner excellent value and quality, where else can you have a 4 course dinner with table service for under £20 per head!!!
This hotel deserves full occupancy because this place has 5 star service!!!
Will undoubtedly return if they aren't full, because you should all be clammering to book!

Recently we spent a 5 day break to Wheatlands Lodge Hotel with Caledonian Travel. We were lucky to have a cheery coach driver called Danny who was very helpful and informative. would highly recommend this lovely family run hotel. Everything was immaculate and spotlessly clean. We had a nice ground floor room with walk in shower, really comfortable bed and pillows. food was excellent, good quality and good home cooking, good choice for breakfast and lovely four course evening meal which was served by very efficient and cheery young staff. Tim, Fiona & Tanya and all their staff were all so friendly and helpful. Very pleasant five day stay and we will have no hesitation in visiting again. Thanks very much for a nice stay.

We have just come back from a three night stay.

The hotel is great value located about a 15 minute walk into York.

Our room was a little bit dated and the shower took a few minutes to get warm but apart from that couldn’t fault it.

The breakfast is fantastic and all the staff lovely. Maz especially was very friendly and helpful.

We ate out all 3 nights. Valentino’s is just round the corner and was fabulous and Old Siam, a Thai restaurant is about 10 minutes walk away. There are some pubs serving food within walking distance.

A great 3 days and we will definitely stay here again.

Central hotel and good value for money.
Our bedroom on top floor needed a little updating compared to other rooms and tvs aren’t the best.Comfy bed and lovely breakfast. Fabulous friendly staff apart from Maz on the bar, surly and cutting.
Would recommend though.

The hotel was well presented with a lovely workforce on hand to ensure your stay is comfortable and you are well fed and watered during your stay.

My room was like the platform 9 3/4 room on a busy junction of stairwell between the ground floor and main first floor. This can be annoying if you are sensitive to noise and light sleeper which constant patters of footsteps passing your room at all hours of the day. The room was well maintained, apart from some tricky to close windows and rock hard pillows.

The housekeeping standards was little bit hit and miss but overall it was clean and safe which all matters at end of the day. After the 2nd night of my stay I ran out of white sugar and to constantly go to reception for White Sugar which was a inconvenience. The bathroom was either partly serviced and cleaned everyday or fully cleaned and serviced depending on the housekeeper of the day.

The was also located at the end hotel with a courtyard and annex attached. This was not issue for the first 4 nights of my stay. As it was quiet all the time, it was only the final night I had issues with the noise of the guest staying in Annex. I mentioned to the Hotel management and they said it a common issue at weekends and constantly get complaints about the noise and there nothing the hotel management can do about the noise disturbances after 9pm.

The food was cooked fresh everyday and excellent portion sizes to keep you full and ready to explore York. I opted to have a evening meal in the Hotel restaurant and it was amazing experience with 4 excellently sized portions to enjoy at reasonable price.

If you are on budget or just fancying on staying outside the city walls. I highly recommend trying out this hotel but try and avoid the weekends when there no coach holidays booked. As you will have more relax full stay during the week.
