I read some poor reviews on this place and nearly didn't book - I am so glad that I did. I have stayed in several hotels in York and this one is BY FAR the best within its price bracket. Lovely period house, nicely furnished, attentive staff, clean spacious room - what more can I say. The one thing to watch is the bar - it is only open for a quite short period in the evening, but when I mentioned my disappointment, reception staff immediately offered to serve me a drink in the lounge. The hotel has two lounges, both of which are teeming with character, and a delightful place to relax and unwind. I was allocated a single room, so feared the worst, as they tend to be broom cupboards - in reality I was given a spacious and pleasant room with desk and an easy chair. wifi worked brilliantly, breakfast was great, car parking really was ample, walking distance of York city centre - this hotel has the lot. Small enough to be quiet and high quality service, big enough to offer everything you need. Would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Room 5 was a great single - there is no lift so second floor might be a haul for some.

We have just returned today from a two night stay at the Alhambra and could recommend. Perfect location, either turn right coming out of the hotel and then turn left and you are at the museum gardens or turn left out of the hotel straight onto Bootham and a 5 minute walk to The Minster. The hotel is very clean and quiet and the breakfast is served promptly and is very substantial. We were on the 2nd floor and were grateful for the lift after a busy day and the bedroom was clean and spacious.

We didn't take the car but they have a very large car park at the rear of the hotel which is a bonus.

Room Tip: Room 16 very quiet

Wanted a good value hotel as close to the City centre as possible; thats what we got.
Room9 was spacious and clean, but did need updating. The bathroom needs a good overhaul, missing filler around the bath and sink made it look un loved, but it was clean. Decent breakfast and cheerie staff. Did have a good nights sleep as the street and hotel, was very quiet. Overall, great location and good value compared to brand hotels. Would stay again.

Stayed at Alhambra Court in March and stayed for 2 nights, can't beleave some of the latest reviews, we found the hotel first class the staff were warm and friendly and gave us refreshing drinks upon arrival, we found the food in the resturant to be excellent with plenty of choice and good value for the money. We stayed in a 4 poster bed room over looking the road which had all the facilities required. The hotel is a Georgian building and well furnished to suit the period, it has excellent parking at the rear all in close walking distance to the Minster and museum gardens

A friendly welcome and a decent room. However the double was in fact two singles joined together and the shower was terrible. The breakfast was a standard fry up. Overall, the location is the best thing about this spot! If the shower facilities were improved I might consider staying here again because I do love visiting York!

The hotel was in a brilliant location but when we arrived we did not feel comfortable staying in our room for more than 10 minutes as there was an unpleasant cooking smell in the hotel. The room was dull and the decoration was tired and a bit shabby. The window in our room (2) overlooked the road and there were no blinds or nets up so the only was to have privacy was to close the curtains even during the day, The bed was comfortable enough and breakfast was ok, although scrambled eggs were not good at all. The staff were not particularly welcoming on arrival and we did not feel particularly well looked after. The parking is about the only plus for this hotel.

Room Tip: Rooms at the front have no privacy from the street

Great value for money, super food, quite quaint really, near enough to the city centre without being right in the middle, every room is different and it's a very comfortable and peaceful place to stay. Car park at the rear. A ten minute walk over the bridge from the station (and whilst in York you really must get a sandwich from the Hog Roast which is open til quite late in the evening)
