We recently stayed in the Alhambra Court Hotel, and i have to say it has been one of the best, we went with friends and had a very pleasant stay. The staff were all very friendly and nice, and couldn't do enough to help. Our room was very comfortable and clean and the hotel is in a great location. I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel to anyone.

We stayed in a family room which was very large and bright. The staff were very helpful and friendly.

Breakfast was very good and we had a good choice.

The location was the best we could have had. A 5 minute walk through lovely gardens into the beautiful town of York. Our children loved seeing the squirrels in the park each morning.

York is a lovely town and it is very easy to find our way around. We would definitely stay at this hotel again.

We are a family of 4. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Very fairly priced and a nice sized room. The hotel is a bit worn but maintained and clean. it is conveniently located within walking distance to the train and stations and a pleasant walk along the River Ouse to get to town center. We would stay there again. While there we took 2 trips to Scarborough, a 45 minute train ride to the coast....very fun.

We stayed in room 1 (first floor facing the front). Fixed headed shower over a bath, good sized bathroom. Double bedroom was x 2 single beds pushed together = massive bed. Only issue was that there were no window blinds. An ironing board and electric fan were supplied on request. Good location near the Ouse, not far from the main street to Bootham bar. Good access to a local superstore for last minute provisions. Too near Bootham bar to use public transport (def a 5 minute walk as promised). Wardrobe, Tea and coffee, dressing table, TV.

Beakfast was formal with waitresses wearing traditional black and white, breakfast was nice. Staff were pleasant, welcoming and accomodating; car parking ample.

Overall, grander than I expected. Please note that a two star hotel such as this is above a 4 star bed and breakfast; there should be some clarification on this. I presumed that the 4 star bb would be far nicer than a 2 star hotel but this was the reverse. To save disappointment, be cautious with the ratings for bed and breakfast guest houses as opposed to hotels. I would definately go again.....recommended.

On arrival we parked very carefully in the corner of the car park upon going into reception we were told to move the car further over as it was going to busy later. We moved right over to the wall in some bushes growing out the floor and then climbed out of the passenger side to get out. The next morning we found the shower didn't work and neither did the shaving point luckily one of us had a battery powered shaver. We won't be going back there looks a better hotel in the same road.
