We went to York on spec on a Bank Holiday weekend and after touring various accommodation we hit on the Coach House and what a hit. The residence was clean and tidy throughout, the staff were curtious and helpful at all times, the breakfast was varied - plentiful and quality. All this was overshadowed by the Sunday Carvery, wow = this was the best carvery we have ever had, and considering all of the family consists of cooks and chefs, then it is really going some.
Regarding previous comments, we had a room at the rear and neither the building works or noise, and even the parking was any problem.
May i extend a big thank you again to the management and staff who made our stay so memorable and enjoyable, and as in the Words of one General McArthur ' we will return,
Bill - Durham

A small hotel within a shortish walk of the Minster, the river Ouse, and city centre. Staff are helpful and efficient. Food is excellent and main stream. In an effort to get as many rooms in the building as possible, there is not much space either in the bedroom (13) or in the public rooms. The small double bed was indeed too small for a couple used to a king size. Our room was in the eaves and had Velux windows which let in too much light too earlin the morning! However, everything is clean and decent. Parking is limited, but the staff are helpful in providing advice and an on-street voucher.

My sister, brother-in-law and I took our mum to York for her 80th birthday recently. As soon as we arrived, we were given a warm welcome at the Coach House. Very friendly staff with lovely touches such as complimentary tea/coffee/cake in the afternoon which added to our stay. Rooms were really clean and nicely appointed - my sister's had a four poster bed and a view of the Minster from the window. Hotel is in a quiet street just 5 minutes from York Minster itself and you can quickly be in the heart of the city by crossing the road, turning right and taking a leisurely stroll through the beautiful museum gardens which will bring you out at the top of Lendal. We ate in the hotel both nights and the food was absolutely delicious on both occasions and very good value for money. Alternatively, you could easily eat out in York itself as there are an abundance of eating places within 5-10 minutes walking distance. Hotel has a small car park at the rear which was full when we arrived, but there is a car park at the end of the street (paying). Can't recommend this hotel highly enough. Will definitely be back with my friends in the future.

Room Tip: Pub serving real ale is next door.

The hotel is in a good central location and the accommodation is comfortable and clean. The evening meal there was very good and value for money as was the breakfast. Beware, however, that if you do get a room at the rear and may wish to sleep beyond 7.30am am this will be a problem as there are noisy building works taking place to the rear. Note also that there is a car park but cars have to be parked in tandem and you will have to leave your car keys at reception as your car may need to be moved. Check out is supposedly 10.30am but beware as we had packed our case and gone for a walk before checking out. When we returned just after 10am, we found that the cleaners had been into our room and cleaned it and put out all clean linen and towels out. When we complained the receptionist did grudgingly apologise but I do not believe at any time it is acceptable to enter a room before the checkout time for whatever reason in this case apparently because they had a large wedding party arriving.

Room Tip: Request a room at the front when booking.

Very sorry to hear about the issues. Building at the rear will be fnished in June and usually they start at 8am and finish at 4pm. (it is illegal for them to work outside these hours). Parking is not something we usually have problems with because as long as guests leave their keys at reception and we are trusted to move the cars a few feet it work well, especially as we are in the city centre. The security cameras we have ensure cars are safe. I would really like to offer you a better experience if you stay again so please ask for Julie and I will endevour to improve things for you.
Kind Regards,
Julie Thomson

We arranged for my father to have the Minster View room and we were not dissapointed. It is a lovely room and he found it very comfortable and slept well. Our room was a small double and was actually a big too small as my husband is 6'3", but it was very comfortable and cosy and when we go back next time we will just book a bigger room! The breakfast was second to none and the cavery on sunday evening was delicious particularly considering that it was Mother's day and all the staff had been run off their feet all day. Overall it was fabulous value for money in a wonderful location. We will certainly be going back. Also, the Minster Inn pub next door is very friendly and relaxed and they also made us feel very welcome.
