We stayed here for the racing on Friday night and then Blondie in concert. There was no room in the car park when we arrived, but the kind lady on the desk gave us a permit to park on the street which was very helpful. The room was lovely, with a complimentary bottle of wine and chocolates - a particular nice touch we thought. The full english breakfast the next morning was the best we've ever known - buffet style, which sets you up for the day! I would certainly recommend this hotel when staying in York - excellent value for money and friendly staff.

Room Tip: Try and book well in advance as the hotel gets very busy in the summer months!

Traveled to York and found ourselves a gem of a place to rest our weary heads and ended up having a truly great experience. We had a late afternoon arrival in York and were greeted by a complimentary offer of coffee and cake. When we got to our room we were amazed by the breathtaking view of the York Minster and hardly noticed yet another complimentary offer of chocolates and a bottle of wine!! Wow, how often does this happen? I can say, not very! Yeah, okay the room was bit on the small side and the Hotel layout a bit quirky but what do you expect from a 300 year old converted coach house, hey? After a comfy night's sleep we had a great breakfast with plenty to choose from. We also had an absolutely gorgeous dinner in the Hotel restaurant, the food was delicious and the chef was a real character, as charming and friendly as the rest of the staff. The owners and staff should be proud of the service that was provided. Real value for money. I recommend a stay and would certainly make a return visit if the chance arose to visit this beautiful city again.

This hotel was in a pretty good location, but not very impressive at all. We stayed here for one night while passing through town on vacation. The hotel was a little run down and wasn't very clean. Also, no airconditioning and only a tiny little fan. Building just seemed old and run down. I would not recommend staying here.

Really sorry about your experience. I have spoken with the staff and it seems the window to your bedroom had been left open. As there was building work taking place at the rear of the hotel (where your room was located) the building dust had blown in and settled. We would have moved you to a room on the front of the building if the staff had been told. Because we are a 17th centuary building we are a little quirky and consider a wall mounted fan preferable to air conditioning especially as our English summers are so short.
Kind Regards,
Julie Thomson

The Coach House is very nicely restored historic Inn with comfortable beds and very clean rooms and bathrooms. We were very pleasantly surprised to find that the Pub and restaurant are excellent! You do not need to wander York searching for acceptable eating when you stay here, indeed it would be a shame to miss the fine food here. We definitely recommend this Inn!

Room Tip: The family room on the 3rd level is wonderful!

As always this hotel improves each time we visit, it is not large, has no sauna's or swimming pools but it is clean, friendly very welcoming, free cake and coffee after four in the afternoon. A fantastic restaurant with great value food, take the dinner bed and breakfast option and save money. You won't eat better in York. Turn left outside the hotel go down the road and . Visit St Oswalds Church, walk through St Margarets Abbey Park or walk down to the river, all beautiful

If you like pubs, you pass The Bootham Tavern, Sky TV, The Exibition, great food, try the hot beef baquette and just under the Bootham Bar Gate there is the hole in the wall, also great food, try the filled yorshire pudding this is about 400 yards away from Hotel, another 2oo yards there is the Minster

We stayed in Room Number 4 last time four poster bed, view of the Minster separate bathroom with a brilliant shower, no bath, some rooms have baths, parking for around 7 cars. If you want more flexibility there is a private apartment owed by Julie the owner and you can still breakfast in the hotel.

Breakfast is to die for, self service, fruit juice, croissants, cereals, toast, Bacon, smoked and none smoked, sausage, black pudding, thin and thick, tomatoes, hash browns, mushrooms, beans, eggs, fried, poached, scrambled, Im may have forgotten a few items, Tea or coffee. If you come out hungry its your own fault. Lela is the day Manager and she is the most helpul person.

I thought twice about fiulling this in because it may jeopardise my getting accomodation next time I go. It is the only place we now stay in York, if we can't get in Coach House we don't go.
