Lovely hotel, well located just outside walls with car parking, something that's at a premium in York. Staff were very helpful from the moment we arrived and throughout the stay. Julie, the owner, lays on fresh cake and coffee for the guests in the lounge, a nice, personal touch. My only possible quibble would be the quilt was quite heavy but this is coming from a man who would sleep under a summer quilt all year round. Would definitely stay again

Dear John, thank you for your review and pleased you slept well in our beds. Our close proximity to the main attractions with parking is a bonus and I believe we definately have the best position in York because we are quiet yet close to the Minster. ....a heavenly place...!!
Hope to see you again and we will put a very light weight quilt on your bed. If you telephone reception we can make sure of this. Reception is manned from 7am to 11pm.
Kindest regards,
Julie

Dear Andy. I am really pleased you enjoyed your stay here. I only buy the very best beds and people definately sleep better in a good quality bed. Breakfast is plentiful and as varied as my imagination can make an English breakfast.....glad you enjoyed that also.
kind Regards,
Julie

Thankyou so much for taking the time to write a review. I am really pleased you and your family enjoyed the hospitality at the Coach House. Yes, being so close to the Minster and with our own car park really is a bonus, thankyou again and I hope we can be of service on another occasion.

Stayed here on 2 occasions now.The room we were in this time wasnt as nice or large as the first time we stayed. There was a problem with the shower temperature and pressure but we left a message on our feedback form about this. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast was great. There is free cake and coffee in the sitting area of the bar which is a nice touch. Will return again in the near future. The rating applies to the establishment as our room would only score a 3 as not a patch on the one we stayed in first time.

Room Tip: Probably better to choose a room on the top level as creaking floorboards above woke us often

Hi Caters, thankyou for your feedback, some rooms are small and the truth is.....size does matter! We do tend to give the best rooms to our regulars who telephone to book so when you call again ask for a larger room and we will do our very best to deliver. In January I will be making room 10 and 11 into one large room which will improve things. Thankyou and when you visit again ask to speak to me.
kindest regards,
Julie.

Stayed here for an overnight trip to see the sights in York. The hotel is really close to the centre and parking is free so that was one less thing to worry about. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. We stayed in the 'luxury double' room and it was a little small but perfect for what we needed. The bed was the comfiest I've ever slept and it was lovely and clean. The bathroom was again nice and clean, the shower was big.The English breakfast was freshly cooked to order and very nice, and there was also a good choice. The decor is traditional which is in keeping with the rest of the hotel and enhanced the fact that we were staying in such a beautiful and historic town, we could see the Minster from the hotel room.. Couldn't find a thing to complain about with this hotel and would definitely stay here again on a return trip.

Room Tip: The 'luxury double' we stayed in had a view of the Minster.

Thankyou Nicola, I am really pleased that you had an enjoyable break staying with us. York has so much to offer and I have to confess when I travel and return to york it makes me feel very very privilaged to live here. The staff at the Coach House are fab and it shows that they enjoy looking after our guests. Regards,
Julie

I travelled solo, but this is also a good choice for families. The lounge area is very inviting, as is the offer of complementary tea/coffee and cake here during the day and on arrival. The staff are pleasant and helpful. The location is fabulous with the Museum Gardens just across the road, and the river at the end of the street. And, they'll do you an evening meal too if you and the kids are just too tired to step out again after a hard day's sightseeing. The building is great too - 16th century.

My group of 5 couples have just spent a fantastic weekend at the Coach House Hotel in York. From the moment we set foot in the nhote on the Friday afternoon until we left on Monday after breakfast, we had a ball. The staff and their boss nand owner of the hotel, Julie Thomson, made us feel at home. Literally we all felt we were staying in a friends home.
The food was superb. Alwayss piping hot and very generous portions.
Another lovely touch was that tea and coffee PLUS a selection of ckes ws always on hand at no extra cost.
The rooms maybe small, as it is in a 300 year old property, but the hospitality was huge. And obviously Julie must be very nice to work for as it reflects in the friendliness of all members of the staff.
Cannot praise it more and we are genuinely looking forward to a return trip.

Room Tip: My w2ife and I stayed in Room 13 in the so-called attic. Quaint and a tremendous view of York Minste...
