This hotel is everything you could wish for, imbecile rooms, friendly helpful staff, one even bakes complimentary daily cakes for the customers which can be eaten in a quaint little lounge, only a 5 minute walk to the cathedral, I only wish I was staying longer : )

It was so friendly. Our room was excellent and quiet. The breakfast was delicious. The public areas were comfortable. The location was ideal for the station and railway museum and it was a short stroll through the museum park into the city. Free coffee and delicious homemade cake available in the lounge for guests. We were so happy we had stayed there and we couldn't fault it. We could recommend it to anyone and we will stay there again when we visit York.

Thank you for your lovely review. We do have a marvelous position, 2 minutes walk from all the main attractions and being down a side street means we are also quiet. I will tell Caroline how much you enjoyed her cake. seeing happy guests really gives me pleasure and the staff here are also a pleasure to work with. Thank you.

Just back from a 3 night stay at the coach house where we were accompanied by relatives. Hotel good but decor a little dated, staff friendly and breakfasts excellent. My brother in law and i both refused to hand over our car keys as we had concerns over insurance cover. Depositing car keys in a bucket seemed rather unsatisfactory...if a car was stolen or damaged the insurers would surely have an issue with this and settlement of a claim could be problematic. Our landlady seemed to accept that we would retain our keys until our final evening when she "lost it" big style. Suddenly we were not nice visitors any more. Her impersonation of Basil returned the following morning to the amusement of all concerned!! We will not be returning and i strongly recommend other visitors think twice before handing over their keys.

Room Tip: room 1 whilst comfortable is rather small.complimentary biscuits non existent after first day and courtesy light does not work.

I was very cross when you and your friends flatly refused to hand in your car keys when your confirmation form clearly states keys must be handed in at reception. For 3 days the other ....lovely guests......had to manoeuvre their cars around yours. We consider ourselves lucky to have our own private car park being so close to the Minster. However I and my girls took great pleasure in refusing to accommodate you here again next year............99% of our guests are really lovely people, unfortunately there is always the other 1%

Very enjoyable stay at this very friendly hotel - feels like home from home with nothing too much trouble. Conveniently situated and complimentary mulled wine cake and coffee - great place for a short or extended stay and very handy for the Centre. Next to a real ale pub - the Minster (no noise nuisance) - and full of character

I just spent 2 nights with 4 friends at this wonderful hotel. We had the attic rooms, 1 family and one twin, although we could all have stayed in the family room as it slept 6 with a Four poster bed, double and two singles.
Warm cosy entrance with welcoming snug and bar, mulled wine and homemade cake available each afternoon, bliss!! Breakfast was amazing and plentiful, each order taken individually by the friendly staff. Little touches throughout such water, brownies and biscuits in each room. Julie the owner was on hand to give advice on where to eat and drink, however we would have happly stayed in the hotel as it was so welcoming. Great staff nothing was too much trouble. We hope to return in the summer. Thanks again Julie.

Room Tip: Family room 2 rooms sleeps 6
