Everything about our stay was absolutely excellent - the room was spotless, the bed was the most comfortable I and my husband have ever slept in (amazing as I have back problems so can never usually sleep away from home), breakfast was fantastic, the staff were friendly and efficient - and there were lots of little extras to make it even more fabulous, including free chocolate brownies in the room (delicious!), free cuppas and cake every afternoon, the receptionist more than willing to answer local queries and give information - I can't praise it enough. And it's right next to the town centre. We will definitely be back next time we come to York!

Dear Lisa,

Thank you for a lovely review. Glad you liked the comfy bed - just what you need after a day of wondering about in York! We love to go that extra mile by adding little treats such as brownies and complimentary fresh coffee! So we're glad you enjoyed these!

We look forward to seeing you in the near future!

Kind Regards,
Julie

Excellent. But should we say that? Because we may have a problem booking again if full up!! Very clean. Very cozy and quaint. Lovely staff and a stones throw from everything. Nice atmosphere as soon as you enter front door. Thanks.

Room Tip: Just enquire. Lower or top rooms to suite.

Dear Pauline,

Thank you for your lovely comments. Our location is very handy, close enough to come back for some complimentary coffee and cake before going back out to 'explore' the city! Ringing up in advance is the best way to ensure we have room for you!

We look forward to seeing you again soon!

Kind Regards,
Julie

Sadly i had built up a high expectation of this hotel after months of planning our anniversary as it was the first time in 12years we had been able to have a child free weekend. On booking we was upgraded to a four poster room (room4) the bed itself was stunning a real grand feature however it was far too big for the room. It was a tight squeeze round either side of the bed. Which resulted in various stubbed toes on the radiator. The staff barely spoke until the end of the stay when taking our money and to complain they had to move a car that was blocking ours in. The only saving grace was the breakfast waitress Sarah she was pleasant and made conversation making us feel welcome. After reading other reviews i was expecting a lovely warm pleasant place to stay, sadly it was unwelcoming and cold. There was a group of 6 50 something's that decided it was a good idea to shriek and scream on the way to there room waking the whole hotel in the early hours.which is not the hotels fault, however even thou its a very old building something needs to be done with regards sound proofing the rooms as you could here every move in the other rooms.... Sorry Coach house but the friendly hotel you offer is not what we received

Dear Sarah I have made extensive enquires about your visit, I am happy you were up-graded and yet things still didn't fulfil your expectations. I was on holiday during your visit and to be truthful because I set the bench mark I really feel you would have had a warmer welcome. However the girls here are friendly by nature and this is something that cannot be manufactured.
kind regards,
Julie

Just had a 3rd stay at this lovely small hotel. It is situated in Marygate, virtually in the shadow of the old city walls, and a very short walk through the Musuem Gardens where ruins of the old abbey can be seen. A few mintues on this pleasant walk and you are in the centre of york and all the attractions this ancient city has to offer. The Minster is only 10 mins away. The hotel is a converted coach house and the delightfull decor reflects this. Our room (no15) was large immaculate, and very comfortable. Ideally for us, it is situated on the ground floor. Coffee and tea with biscuits were provided in the room, and you could help yourself to complementary coffee and home made cake in the lovely period lounge. Breakfast was excellent and should suit most palates. The staff are very friendly and helpful

Room Tip: Our room was ideal for anyone with a mobility problem

Stayed here for weekend, my wife and I were put in room 21 at the top of hotel which is a family room/s as there are 2 separate sleeping areas. Also 2 shower rooms 1 with toilet. The room was spotless and smelt fresh and clean as well as being large with 4 poster bed. The staff were all friendly. The breakfast was great and you had a huge choice. Close to town centre 5 min walk. All in all excellent. Thank you will be back.
