“Lovely small hotel with very friendly staff”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 June 2014

Coach House Hotel is a great little hotel in central York, just five minutes walk from the city centre but on a quiet side street and almost adjacent to the river. The staff were very warm and friendly and we were welcomed upon arrival by tea and cake! Our room was lovely - not large but perfect for our needs with en-suite shower and bathroom. The beds were very comfortable indeed and there was a wide range of options of breakfast including vegetarian options.

The hotel lists itself as being bicycle friendly and this is definitely true - the staff were happy for us to store our bikes indoors overnight and we didn't have any problems getting them out again the following morning.

All in all, we had a truly wonderful stay and we'll definitely be back again!

Room Tip: Rooms on the ground floor may get some noise from the car park at the rear.

Perfectly placed just a few minutes walk from the city. We arrived early but our spotlessly clean bedroom was ready. Cottage style with views of the minster and everything we were promised on booking. An excellent choice at breakfast. Throughout our short break the staff were friendly, helpful and attentive.
The only minor moan....Internet connection was hit and miss in the bedroom so we were forced to adjourn to the bar !!!

Room Tip: Ask for a "Minster view" room.

Stayed at the Coach on Sunday 25th, lovely clean and tidy room, given a welcoming cup of tea on arrival, The staff really cared about their hotel and seemed to show a lot of pride in the establishment.
Breakfast was included and a good choice was available,
Bathroom was very clean and a large shower cubicle, tea and coffee was freely available in the room
Parking was included up to 11 am on the day of departure
Looking forward to visting the Coach House and York again

Room Tip: We had room 1 a twin, noise from above at night did disturbs us so we will go for a top floor next t...

Set just behind the Minster off Bootham, this is a warm and friendly hotel. Full of character and charm it's a great place with easy access to York centre. Its dead quiet but with good parking. The rooms are small but cosy and ideal for breaks and weekends.
Breakfasts are superb. Home sourced food and cooked fresh to order. Little touches such as free cake and coffee throughout the day in the lounge and great in-room refreshments differentiate this hotel from others.
The owner and her staff are first class, give it a go; Highly recommended!!!!

Been back to this lovely cosy hotel, super room no 4, nicely furnished and loved the shower in the en suite. Could see the Minster from window always a plus, and can park at hotel whilst staying. Very handy for town. York as wonderful as ever. Staff all welcoming as ever and the breakfast is always as much or as little say you want. I will be back

Stopped here for three nights in April. Lets get one thing straight, this is not your typical chain hotel so if you are looking for the corporate certainty of a Holiday Inn you will be disappointed.
Its a small cosy hotel in an original coach house and as such the rooms are all different, some are large and some are smaller and their are quite a lot of stairs if you are on the top floor. For me this makes the hotel interesting and charming.
My room was clean, and comfortable and had everything I needed even if the bathroom was rather small. The bed was particularly comfortable and I have to congratulate the hotel on providing a good range of pillows including at least one memory foam one which was perfect for my dodgy neck!
Downstairs is a small lounge which had the added attraction of free coffee and delicious free cake which made a nice treat on returning for a late afternoon siesta.
Breakfast was huge, well cooked and delicious (but then again this is Yorkshire so what do you expect!).
There was a small bar which we didn't get chance to try due to the hundreds of other hostelries in York but it looked very pleasant.
The hotel is positioned really well just a few hundred yards from the Minster so is really good value given its prime spot.
The only negative I can find is that the WIFI coverage was not great in the rooms so it necessitated coming down to the lounge if you needed to do any travel research or emails etc. This is however not unusual in these older buildings.
So in summary if you are happy to stay in somewhere authentic rather than corporate and can handle a few stairs I recommend it for its position, friendly service and good old fashioned values.

Room Tip: Higher numbered rooms are on higher floors which do involve stairs so ask for low numbered room if y...

Just got back from a 3 night stay here. Breakfast was lovely staff very friendly, but room size a bit small for a this length of stay. We also never got our tea n coffee basket topped up while staying, even after I asked I was told it would be done when the room was tidied. This wont put me off staying again as its in a very good location but I would ask for a different room.
