Lovely little hotel in the heart of York. Excellent location for exploring the city. Free parking and wifi are a huge bonus. Breakfast was delicious and the homemade brownies in the room were amazing!!!! The only downside was that the floorboards in the room above were very noisy - bring earplugs.

Stayed: August 2014

Dear Raechel,

Thank you for your kind words- we are pleased your stay was a good one.
We are having extra sound proofing put under the floor boards in January so hopefully squeaky floor boards will soon be a thing of the past.

We hope we can welcome you back in the future.

Kind Regards
Lela

The three ladies who run it go out of their way to make you feel at home. This includes a lovely, included breakfast, free fresh cake in the lounge all afternoon and the ability to order dinner for the time of your choosing, in the dining room or delivered to your room. The rooms are small, but very airy and comfortable. Located next to the museum gardens and next to the city wall, it was a quick walk to all sites within the city. The internet worked, but was a bit spotty. Even managed to get a recipe from Christine.

I have to be honest I was a little apprehensive as this as close to a pub and one or two of the reviews made me a bit iffy at staying here. But as it was close to where my daughter was getting married it was the perfect location for my disabled mother who couldn't walk far.

When we arrived we were warmly greeted and the staff were very attentive, chatting to us and joking with us. The staff went out of their way, even making a special meal for my mum in law! Nothing was too much trouble for them. The rooms were very pretty and spotlessly clean, I loved the little touches that only a woman would think of, especially in the ladies toilets.

We had full English for breakfast, this was piping hot, and not a spot of grease, again the staff went out of their way to make us welcome. The day after the wedding at breakfast all the staff asked about how the wedding had gone, which was very kind of them, and yet again a great breakfast!.

I know I mentioned the pub.. well I don't think anyone should worry as I couldn't hear anything, as I slept like a baby, in a very comfortable bed! with a lovely mattress topper on it!

Visited Coach House again on 24th July 2014 now in our 17th year visiting, I think the fact we have come back so often says how superb this hotel is, extremely friendly and welcoming staff, superb accomodation, great food. This hotel owed by Julie and run by Lela supported by great staff continues to surpass our expectations. Well done everyone, see you next time and thanks again for our home from home.

Excellant location for sightseeing, rooms small, especially the bathrooms, however, everything you need is there. We were not happy with our first room in the attic, not much useabale floor space and nowhere to unpack your clothes properly if staying for more than 1 night, shower went hot and cold. However, they were happy to move us to a nicer room on the 1st floor, room 2 for the rest of our stay. Both rooms had very comfortable beds, even if the bathrooms were a bit on the small side.
Staff were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel and rooms were very clean.Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. My only real complaint was that I put on a couple of pounds because of their delicious complimentry cakes!!!

Room Tip: 1st floor rooms can be noisy, as you would expect from a very old building.

My wife and stayed for a one night stay in York, situated very close to the centre itself and ideal for a short stroll into town. The staff were very pleasant and really accommodating, we stayed in an outside flat which belongs to the hotel this was well appointed and clean. Highly recommended if visiting York a pleasant experience from booking in to checking out.
