“Best Wednesday morning treat.”
Reviewed 24 October 2013

Always welcoming but on Wednesday mornings only.

Volunteers open this interesting medieval building from 10 am until noon. Where else can you have real coffee or a pot of tea or hot chocolate for a pound - with a complimentary plate of biscuits to choose from ? Yes, only one pound and here you are also offered a free refill too!

There's a chance to meet a few regulars and always several new visitors who have been fortunate enough to spot this amazing building in Trinity Lane, off Micklegate on the correct day. Remember - it's a must if you are in York on any Wednesday morning.

“Magnificent building and history.”
Reviewed 14 February 2013

If you don't cast your eye down side streets of York you will miss little treasures like Jacobs well, with its ornate canopy round the door that holds a lot of history.

“Hidden hideaway”
Reviewed 26 August 2012

We have visited York many times, over a considerable period of time and never realised that this site existed. It was a medieval house that had been lived in by chantry priests and is still used by the same church. We only came across it because of taking one of the York Walks (which we highly recommend!). It was an unexpected little treasure and also served the cheapest cofee in York!! A visitor is unlikely to spend very long here but it is definitely worth a visit.
