Visiting this exhibition is informative and you you can learn a lot. But at £17.50 for adults this is very over priced.
Book online for only £9.95, and if you have a smartphone or internet enabled Tablet, book minutes before you go in. We arrived at 1.15pm. There was a queue of around 30 minutes. We were about to give up once we saw the sign for the price but noticed another board displaying online prices; dramatically cheaper! Out came the Smartphone and within a few taps we had bought our tickets for fast track entry at 1.30pm. We saved £14!
We left the queue, joined the fast entry (which was empty) and proceeded into the exhibition. There are many artifacts to see and a lot of in depth reading on plaques. The high point is a gentile ride through York of Vikings time with a commentary of what you can see and how they lived. Very informative.
For those interested in history then this is a must. For small children they get easily bored, but for older children and teenagers this is informative and educational..

As many people have said this attraction is expensive lasting only about an hour at most. However the ride is very interesting and you certainly remember the sights and sounds. It brings history to life. My main criticism would be that the exhibition part is rather dimly lit and difficult to see. As many people have said go before 10 or after 4 or prebook on line.

Yes it's expensive, yes it's busy, yes it's commercial but ya know what? It is brilliant. Lots of history, lots of facts, lots of interactive things for the kids. (The kids LOVE it!). Don't be a boring old fart- be adventurous- forget about the money and enjoy travelling back to old viking times in England. Well worth it. But one word of advice. Get there early to avoid the queue.

The entrance fee is understandable for what they have to maintain, but for the amount of time you spend there, it is on the steep side. I liked it very much though, would go back with my kids.

Definitely a must see! In fact we went twice! My son loved the smelly Viking village (I think the smells were worse later in the week)!
