Owner description: This church-turned-café is a hive of activity but still retains a peaceful charm.

This former church on Spurriergate (continue off the end of Coney Street) provides a peaceful haven. A great place for a tea/coffee and a snack. Often used by groups for small meetings. It has retained the church architecture and is historically interesting.

Every time I visit York (2-3 times a year), I always visit this cafe and enjoy home cooked food, and a peaceful atmosphere. They do things like quiche with salad, jacket potatoes, oven bakes and daily specials, as well as a great selection of desserts. There is water with a lemon flavour available free of charge with your meal.
You can also buy crafts and cards to help developing countries.
An extra service not available in most cafes and restaurants is someone to talk to if you need help or prayer (as the centre is run by a church).

We have eaten here many a time. The food is reasonably priced, looks and tastes good. Pleasant surroundings and lovely and cool on a hot day. Often busy so have had to wait a while but the fact people are queuing says it all. Really worth a visit beats all the standard pub grub around.

Lovely home made cooked food, great cakes. On main high street so ideal to pop in for quick cuppa whilst shopping. Very kid/baby friendly too. God value for money.

We live in York and regularly come here for a reasonable coffee and nice piece of cake. Usually quiet and very child friendly and of course doing a bit to support local business. As an old church it makes a unique atmosphere to sit back and relax away from the busy streets.
