a birthday present tour on the day before Le Grand Depart of the TDF. The brewery is located just inside the city walls so you can combine this visit with a walk on the walls before or after quite easily. The river and railway station are close by. Our tour started at 5.30pm from the bar. Our tour guide was highly entertaining and knowledgeable. This is a small brewery so the tour did not take very long but included a process description, malt and hops tasting and then a look around/down into the mashing and fermentation processes before returning to the bar. You each get 4 tokens exchangeable for 1/3rd pint glasses of your ales of your choice. The shop sells bottled beer, glasses, tee shirts, hoodies etc as normal.

All in all an enjoyable visit and much better than some we have had at bigger breweries. If you are carrying heavy bags around they can be stored behind the bar. Car parking is easy on the street outside with payment at a meter.

Good atmosphere in the bar afterwards. Directly behind the brewery and on their premises is Brigantes Bar & Brasserie serving decent food and a very large selection of ales from all over the world.

Visited mid-afternoon whilst the 'olds' visited the local Minster.
There were 8 in our group - from all over the world - about the right size.
Interesting talk and tour of this micro brewery, finished off with excellent samples, of your own choice, in the bar (4 x 1/3 pints).
Small gift shop.
Well worth a visit.

We had a really good time here. Your entrance fee is payed back in beers and the tour was really well explained. Great value for money. The nice thing is, it is a working, but sm all, brewery. Tour took about An hour of which a large part focussed on the process, which I liked.

Thoroughly enjoyed this tour.
Although I'm not a beer drinker I have been to several breweries and this small brewery did an excellent job. The staff were knowledgeable and able to answer all our questions. This tour is covered by the York Pass but you only get half a pint as a taster, rather than a pint if you paid directly for the tour. Soft drinks are available instead. The tour ran over time because of everyone's enthusiasm but this was no problem to the staff.
Would definitely recommend this for the men.
