“A good couple of hours of culture and history”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2014

We paid a entry fee of £10 each for the 2 of us and it's a extra £5 each if you want to visit the tower - which we missed. We came out feeling great as you really are immersed in culture and history. The guided tour is not to be missed, as it gives you a real appreciation of the place as you learn story after story. Also it's good to get a booklet about the Minster as you can refer back and relive the facts that back up the stories. Booklets are purchased as you pay for your entry fee and the bigger one is £5 and the smaller one is £3. It's also nice to see that they are encouraging budding stone masons to carry on the work for the future - Brilliant.

“Worth a visit but expensive”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 August 2014

We got a 3 day York Pass and the Minster was included on the pass. Not sure i would've paid the c.£10 entry fee.

It was really good but in a way if you've seen one Cathedral you've seen them all. The crypt museum was really good, that part didn't really feel like a cathedral, my mum and I even played snakes & ladders (I'm 30+!!!)

“Absolutely stunning & fascinating!”

The stained glass windows are amazing and as you walk around there are numerous plaques telling the story of the famous and not so well-known people buried there. I wasn't sure what to make of "The Orb" - it was a little bit out of place! We only had time for a quick look around; but I think a proper guided tour would be very interesting.

So much to see and do - buy a ticket and you can return free for a year. Free guided tour lasts about 1 hour - excellent.
