“One of the best rail stations on the East Coast Mainline !”
Reviewed 8 May 2014

You get a sense of majesty when your train arrives in York, you know you have arrived in one of this country's best cities, according to information i read at the station York is the 7th most visited city in the United Kingdom.
The station dosn't profess to be modern, but it is efficent in it's working, at the moment work is being carried out on the station to preserve it, like other people have said, some of the signage via the stairs and lift access is confusing. but their are plenty of staff on hand to help. Trains arrive into York from all over the country, so it's exciting to see the arrivals and departures boards to see where they all come from and where they are all going to !!
Their are plenty of places to get a bite to eat, one thing that does surprise me is that East Coast Trains do not have a First Class Lounge here, surprising as York is a prominent station between London Kings Cross and Edinburgh !

“A bit higgedly piggedly”
Reviewed 16 April 2014

Not the easiest station I've had to get around, with facilities seemingly dotted about piecemeal. A useful "back entrance" to the famous Railway Museum is handy if you want to go straight there. There is no left luggage facility on the station, but lockers can be found at the Railway Museum (2 coins required £1 and £2) or you can use the facility at the Europcar car hire place just up the hill from the station (turn right on exit) £5 per item - more expensive but will take larger bags - note it closes at 6.

“The gateway to York!”
Reviewed 5 April 2014

York's train station is really close to the centre, just outside the city walls. Parking can be hard to find & expensive,so travelling by train can be a really good option, especially at weekends.

“Lost in tunnels.”
Reviewed 26 March 2014

I arrived at York station from London. I am unable to use stairs but soon found the lift access on the platform. The lift directions were very confusing. One would expect to go up but in fact the access was down to a subway and then back up to exit the station. Sadly, on this occasion, the lift going back up to the exit had failed. I was stranded in the subway of York station.
I am pleased to say that an employee from East Coast Mainline carried my luggage up the stairs to the exit, and I thanked him.
The whole experience was very distressing.
