Judy was fantastic and very helpful .
The location was just right for us.
It was quiet , peaceful and i love the country side.
We even get to eat fresh pick apple and pears . Pick by our selfs . Just brilliant

We stayed in Curlew Cottage just outside the village of Thorganby, ten miles from the center of York. The cottage was comfortable and well maintained. The electricity meter had been filled by Judy the owner prior to our arrival and we only used about 2/3 of it during our stay. We used the water heater, oven and washing machine daily. After greeting us Judy left us to it but was there if we needed anything, which we didn't. Very convenient location for the York park and ride at the designer outlets on the A19, and also the A64 for trips to Castle Howard, Pickering, Whitby etc. Although the cottage has its own private yard, there are several dogs on the farm and they make the large lawn in front of the cottage unsuitable for children to play on.
We had a wonderful stay enhanced by perfect weather and clear dark skys to watch the Perseids.

Second stay at the Curlew Cottage at Thorganby Farm Cottages (see my July 2014 review for details) and it is still as good as it was then. The welcome is warm but Judy (the owner) does not intrude if you want peace and quiet. I stayed there with husband, adult son and dog and we all enjoyed our stay. Recommended.

A beautifully appointed space, a quiet location within easy drive to York and the Pennines, a very welcoming and friendly owner . . . just the high point of our holiday. Comfortable bed, good furniture in the living/dining area, wonderfully equipped kitchen -- and relieable wifi.

There are a couple of pubs within 5 - 10 minutes' drive. We liked the Wenlock Arms, but the Jefferson Arms has some very good food and beer, too. There is a well-supplied little shop a few minutes' drive away and a good-sized retail park ("shopping center") further on in Selby -- including an ASDA and an Aldi. The York Design/Discount area is also close. We are not shoppers so can't say much about it all, but the local beer is lovely.

And July, our host, was everything we could hope for. We would definitely stay on this farm with its gorgeous gardens again.

Thorganby Farm Cottages was the perfect base for a motorcycling holiday around the Yorkshire moors and dales. Judy the owner greeted us with a home made chocolate cake and the cottage came with tea and coffee which was welcome after a long ride up. She also booked us into the village pub that evening and was kind enough to give us a lift there and back.

The cottage is very cosy and well equipped. We had ample kitchen equipment to cook for ourselves the rest of the week. There were also books and games, and a TV that we didn't even switch on all week.

A comfortable king size bed that can be made up as a twin as well as a sofa bed creates flexible sleeping arrangements for friends or couples. The wetroom had plenty of towels and gallons of hot water.

Wifi meant we could plan our routes using Googlemaps each evening.

Each morning Judy's friendly Jack Russell and Collie would greet us and the rooster and sheep in the next door field made you feel you'd really got away from city life, but with York only a short drive away it was all close by if you wanted it.

Thorganby Farm Cottages are located at a quiet road close to a little village with a pub, but still only a few miles away from York. The wide views from the cottage and nice garden are magnificent!

Last visit was our second and this time we stayed in Celandine (first time in Curlew). The cottages are convenient, clean and have everything you need at a good standard. Perfect for two persons for both a short break and longer holiday. Next time we hope to ‘experience’ the newly built 2 bed roomed De Lux cottage.
