Owner description: The staff are friendly, welcoming and what's more, they really know about real ale and are on hand to advise you in your choice of drink. Great location, interesting characters and unique regulars make this an excellent place for people watching. Our pub policy is NO jukeboxes, gaming machines or children, so you can relax and enjoy your drinks in peace and quiet.

The Colliergate area of town leading to Fossgate.has become a haven for great bars. You've got the superlative Pivni; the smart new Duke of York and nearby there's the excellent The Hop. Given that The Last Drop has been here longer than all of these it has to respond to these relative newcomers by upping its game or it will irrevocably lose out.

Don't get me wrong - it's not bad and has a half decent beer range but like the other York Brewery pubs the standard of beer veers towards average rather than excellent. The atmosphere is friendly and the staff obliging but you get the impression that the place is resting on its laurels rather than teaching the other bars how things should be done.

Recently visited York again after some time. Alway a favourite is the Last Drop Inn a pub owned by York brewery. Small and compact with seating in the from and rear area. A small beer garden to the rear. The pub now does food, sadly we did not have time to try it but the menu sounded just the job for the excellent ale that they serve. The pricing of the food was also very reasonable at around £7. Sunday roast was also available. Mouth watering deserts also on a special boards. The best bit though is the ale. My favourite is the Centurion Ghost ale at 5.4 lovely roast coffee and liquorish flavours. My hubby likes Yorkshire Terrier light at around 4.2 golden in colour and citrusy in flavour. Tried a few of the guests as well. Remember to take you card with you as CAMRA members receive a 10% discount on ale. A dog friendly pub as well with biscuits and a bowl of water available and a pat for the staff as well. Made friends with Lola a true beauty of a dog. Took our Westie Jamie for a final drink before the end of our stay. Busy at the weekends and evenings but worth a visit. Please note that you can get in the pub in a wheelchair in the front area of the bar. The toilets are upstairs though so please bear this in mind.

Popped out looking for a Sunday roast and this pub was fab! It's traditional and has a great selection of beer. The Sunday roast beef was delicious!! And the value at £6.95 was amazing! Worth a visit.

The staff really made our visit to this place for me. The barmaid was lovely and very helpful. Good range of real ales, not a great choice of food though. On the plus side it was the best steak and ale pie I have ever tasted! The interior leaves a lot to be desired however and it would have been nice to have more choice on the menu

I visit the Last drop Inn regularly ever since I discovered it way way back. I don't know really if I should share this place with others as I may not be able to get through the doors for a pint and a bite. It's well visited as it is by the locals but I really think that visitors should be allowed to share the local York Brewery ale and the many guest beers on offer. The pub is not one of those posh places that charge a fortune just for walking in, it's a good honest no frills place where you can sit down, take the weight of your feet and relax. Apart from the excellent ale, Roberto the chef magics up really good grub and at realistic price. (the sausages and cheese covered wedges are to die for). Do Drop into the Last Drop Inn you will not be disappointed It's not the Ritz but then again it's not a rip off. Cheers, Bill
