I love this place. The two people who run it are lovely. The scones are excellent, tea comes in mugs and this is good!. A lovely spot away from the bustle and hustle of Yorks busy streets. Stop a while and enjoy.

We visit this quaint little floating cafe often when we trek over to York.

Today we go home so we decided to have a walk into York and have some lunch at the Stickleback floating cafe. It was terribly expensive for such a teeny tricolour salad.
Afterwards I suggested to the young man 'a little bread with the teeny salad might be a good idea'. That's when he acknowledged they usually do and 'she' must have forgotten.
No apologies or refunds or anything. Will not be going back.
Bought a baguette from Greggs after leaving as we were still hungry!

This is a wonderful place, one of the only cafes on York's river, and it does it well. Lovely scones and tea. A welcome addition to the bustling riverside.

A delightful open air cafe, with the kitchen in a canal narrow boat. It is easily found alongside Museum Gardens, and near Ouse Bridge and one of the stages for "York Boats". So very central to York. This little cafe permits a unique experience in York - to sit outside on the river bank enjoying a fair trade coffee or tea, a nice piece of cake, sandwiches or a "light bite". The very pleasant service and reasonable price mean it is an ideal stop-off (as a local resident) on our way home from shopping.
Watching the boats go by is the main pleasure, but there are some interesting passers by, and just occasionally you may see a steam locomotive hauling a special train across Lendal Bridge, which is not too far away.
