I stayed for 2 nights at this cottage with a friend in January. It was very cosy and comfortable, extremely warm, a home from home. Alison was lovely, flexible and accommodating. We didn't want for anything and if we were ever wanting to stay in York again we would not hesitate to book this cottage.
I would recommend this to anyone for a short stay.
Very clean and great for families everything you need even good internet for the kids. Close to park & ride and York.
A cozy, comfortable, pretty, quiet and clean cottage within easy reach of York. Very friendly and helpful hosts. The nearby Ship Inn is highly recommended. The food is genuinely some of the best pub grub I've had. This accommodation is perfect for families.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The accommodation was overall very good and the photos were a true reflection. Everyone we met on the site and surrounding area were very friendly.
Regarding the accommodation the beds were very comfortable and good standard of bedding. The kitchen was well maintained, both cooker and fridge very clean. It was cosy but spacious enough for a family of five (2 adults and 3 children).
There was a garden at the back with BBQ facilities and a short walk away (5 minutes if that) was Ship Inn which overlooked the river. We didn't eat there (only early evening drink in the garden area overlooking the river) as we were fortunate with the weather and BBQ'd each night making the most of our outdoor space at the cottage.
Only a short drive from York we spent several days there and the children thoroughly enjoyed all York had to offer (including fudge-making, Viking Centre, Science fair) also visited the Forbidden Corner, which was a couple of hours away but stopped off in some lovely villages there and back to break up the journey for the kids. We plan to return for another short break next year to do the things we didn't get round to and would definitely book this accommodation again.
It was a late booking and I was delighted with the choice. From warm welcome and utmost helpfulness by Alison to the perfect accommodation with everything one needs, I couldn't say anything but praise. Located close to beautiful York and short distance from different attractions,
The only regret is that we couldn't stay longer than weekend but it is definetely the place I would like to go back. Heartily recommended.
Beautiful, clean, comfy cottage with lovely owners. Alison made lots of suggestions of places to go.
The beds were all comfy and the rooms lovely. We stayed in pinfold with a twin room, very light and airy,a pretty room; a bunk bed room for the boys and lively double room.
Big deep bath and nice shower with towels.
The lounge and kitchen were great with bbq tool for the fab brick bbq in the small garden with even comfy foldable lounger CHAIRS.
We tried the marcia pub in bishopsthorpe with the kids as it was far more reasonable than the ship. Great food with quiz night Wednesdays. Lovely staff.
All in all a great stay on a peaceful site.
This is the 2nd visit to this wonderful place and the fantastic Cottages.
Both visits have been with friends. The Cottages are lovely - homely, comfortable, with everything you need.
The site itself is immaculately looked after and so very peaceful - as is the surrounding area.
From the initial enquiry to checking out it's so easy and you are made to feel so very welcome.
The Cottages are a five minute walk to the river where we caught a boat up to York where we spent the day. The Ship Inn is right next to the river too and perfect for a lovely meal.
Thank you for another great visit - we'll definitely be back ! x
