Here you will not only learn about the history of chocolate and the families who began to make the first chocolate confections. You will also learn about the process of turning the raw product into the sweet brown stuff we love today. You'll get to meet a famous Yorkshire man,Dougie Weakes. And if Matthew Kirk is your tour guide you will be well entertained and informed.
The Cadbury Factory Tour we did in Dunedin New Zealand could learn a lot about presentation from the chappies in York. Well worth the entry fee.

The chocolate'stroy is a cosy nice chocolat's shop. For the museum part the entrance is quite expensive regarding what is inside, you may go once but never go back again shouldn't be the experience of your life !
The lady who makes the tour was really smart and enjoyed herself that was a real plesure. But the museum is a bit empthy and I would appreciate more info about the kitkat history (create here), marketing, different package in the world / history ....
It is really interactive museum and oviously must be more existing for kids than 25's people.

You will be able to test chocolate at different stage wich is nice and also create your own lolipop but don't be to exited as every portions are super small ;)

There is a lot of attraction in York, do this one if you have kids or to make a break on your historical visits .... If you miss it will not be a big deal ....

We only went into the cafe area. It was pleasant ( but slightly cold) we enjoyed hot chocolates & chocolate fondue. my 12 year old son thought it was fantastic.

Me and my husband went here on a visit to York, no kids just 2 adults. My husband is a big kid and thoroughly enjoyed it! He loved making his own chocolate lolly. The guide was professional and informative. Really good unusual attraction. A little expensive at £9.50 each, but you did get to make your own lolly and try chocolate, so I suppose that's covered in the costs. Would recommend.

Admission price was cheap, the woman giving us the tour was cheerful & enthusiastic! Bit boring for young kids (mine is 4) but was kept interested when free chocolate was given out ! At the end you got to make chocolate lollies and the children got to play on an activity table which showed how to make chocolate. Defiantly worth the visit.
