“Fantastic - a must see”

Our tour guide was really good and we loved the entire thing. Lots of chocolate tasting and you the chocolatier makes fresh chocolate sweets for you to try at end. Highlight was making your own chocolate lolly which they put in a bag for you to take home. One of best tours we've ever done!!

If you are in York this is well worth a visit, it is very informative and you will gain a lot of knowledge. The shop is a bit expensive but is very nice. There was lots to see and gain. Very nice chocolate.

“FULL OF (COCOA) BEANS”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 March 2014

The guide on this tour which lasted an hour made it very interesting. We paid (adult £9.95 concessions minus £1) and were advised to wait for half an hour or so as two groups of school children were due. Very wise advice! We drank hot chocolate in the shop as we waited. Delicious but VERY expensive at £4 each, including marshmallows. We learned the history of chocolate both worldwide and in York. Samples of chocolate are given but not in the form of bars or blocks as on the Cadbury World Tour. The chocolatier gave a demonstration which was very good. However, groups of school children at the stage directly behind this demo made it difficult to hear what he was saying. The final stage seemed a little rushed as there were things to read and activate but the group was called over to work benches to make our individual chocolate lolly. Tours were only 15 or 20 minutes apart whilst we were there which does mean a slightly noisy overlap. Overall the tour was like the hot chocolate, better than expected but maybe slightly over priced, particularly for families. The toilet facilities are extremely small. Elderly people or parents with children should be advised to use the disabled facilities as there is little space to turn around in the single, mixed w.c The seats in the shop are all high bar stools which is not going to attract older people. The tour can involve a lot of standing as the few seats on offer were taken by younger, quicker people on our tour.My 84 year old mother had to stand for almost the full tour. It would help if the guide could mention that disabled or elderly people should be given priority! I have rated the attraction as very good because it is above average but I feel there is room for improvement.

“Definitely worth a visit”

Very interesting and informative tour, with a most entertaining guide. Well presented and great to make your own decorated lolly. The chocolatier demo was very good as well. Not really for v young kids.
