Visited York recently and as this attraction was included with our York Pass (a must!! if you are spending more than one day in york and want to visit all the main attractions)
as it was quite a busy day we couldn't get straight in and had to book a later slot and wait about forty minutes, as its located right next to the shambles this wasn't too bad as we had a look around the shops while we waited.
We were in a group of about twenty including quite a few children and we were led through Yorks 'chocolate story' by a lovely tour guide who was very good. Free samples in every room aswell which was excellent. The whole tour is very interesting and informative.
Then we got to the end room. . .as we were entering the group before, the group before us was just leaving (not a typo) so there was a fair few people crammed into this room, which with all the people, two different talks going on and the children loosing interest it was very noisy.
i think the contributing factor was the heat, as this was the room where you make your own chocolate bar, and the chocolate was not setting as it usually would and this was delaying progress of the tours. I think we were in the last room for about half an hour to forty minutes just waiting about for other tours to leave and for chocolate to set.
I would hope that, as this is a new attraction they will learn from mistakes this year and have this problem rectified by next year as it really did spoil what would of been an otherwise very fun attraction.
