Interesting tour. A few tasting sessions. Make your own chocolate lolly to take home. Ideal for all the family on a rainy day!

The tour took about an hour or so and involved trying chocolate along the way and learning about the Rowntree history. Good use of audio visuals and interaction for all. You get to make your own chocolate lolly at the end. Nice cafe also in the shop. Well worth a visit.

Visited early September with my 8 year old daughter. We booked and paid online in advance, to ensure we got in at a time that suited us. Our tour guide was Ben, who was great - he engaged with the group really well and was very entertaining in his 'story-telling'. I was initially concerned my daughter would find the history a little boring, but she loved it. The whole history of chocolate and the families who made a living out of it was really interesting and I learnt something new. Learning about how chocolate is made and what makes good / bad chocolate was really informative. Trying out samples and seeing how filled chocolates are made is a nice addition to the tour. You also get to make your own white chocolate lolly and decorate it - the children especially liked this bit. You won't spend hours at this attraction - probably 60-90 minutes and I don't think it's somewhere you'd visit again and again. But it's definitely worth a first time visit if you're looking for things to do in York and it will appeal to all ages.

Lee, our tour guide, was absolutely brilliant. Very entertaining, helpful and managed to deliver a fantastic tour despite a small child being a bit of a distraction. You get 6 chocolate tasters and an additional white chocolate lolly that you get to decorate yourself - fantastic tour and I can recommend it for all ages!

This is a very fun visit you get to learn all about how chocolate is made and you get samples all the way round. Also you get to make your own lolly to take home. Mine and my partners disintegrated in the heat wave we have at the minute. Thoroughly enjoyed my visit. Also staff are VERY enthusiastic!!!

Hello and thank you for taking the time to leave a review.

Really pleased that you had fun on your visit. Sorry your lollies melted in the heatwave though! You'll have to eat them quicker next time.

Thanks again!
