Was looking for a great way to see the city with only little time available and decided on a boat cruise down the River Ouse. There are regular sailings from Lendal Bridge where you board the boat so we didn't have to wait too long for the next one to arrive. We bought a couple of tickets from the vendor while we waited, the cost was £8.50 for a one hour duration on the boat which we thought was quite reasonable. The sailing was slightly delayed on it's departure but that was to be expected as it was fairly busy and people always turn up at the last minute before the boat is about to leave. We sat upstairs and was given a very warm welcome by our skipper, Les. The guided river trip takes you from Lendal Bridge past the famous St. Peter's School before turning round and taking you back through the heart of the city. There are plenty of opportunities to take photographs from the boat as you are allowed to walk around the boat whilst it's in motion and you get to see both sides of the river wherever you're sat. Our commentary was very informative and interesting not to mention light-hearted which made the trip much more enjoyable. A different perspective on the city that you may not see on a sightseeing bus tour perhaps and slightly cheaper.
