Cheap, clean hotel, in walking distance from railway station ,roughly ten minutes . Stayed here for one night whilst visiting for york races . Hotel clean and comfortable . Bar prices very good for a hotel , suppose they have to compete with the huge choice of pubs in york . Breakfast ok although couldn't really face it because of the hangover .Room decent size , kettle tea coffee etc . Hotel a little noisy in the morning ( somebody excitedly shouting sounded rather like an oompah loompah ) half past five is a wee bit early to be trying to get everybody up mate . We walked in to racecourse only takes about 20 mins .

Stayed here one night with the family. Good size room. We were on the street side but amazingly quiet considering the Micklegate run is right below. Couldn't hear the traffic. Only when people were very loud you could hear them. Great spot near good eating places. Would use again.

Room Tip: I guess there are rooms not on the street side although I don't know. Best to ask for those as y...

After booking a cheap night away in York we were very impressed with this hotel. All main attractions within walking distance. A Weatherspoons attached where you could eat & drink if you wished. We went into York centre for this. Staff very friendly and helpful. No problems with getting more tea and milk for the room. Excellent value for money.

Our stay at the Travel Lodge was good value for money, but the room wasn't great.
It was very clean and bedding etc was immaculate - which is the main thing!
But we had no towels in the bathroom so we had to go to reception and ask for these and it was hard to get ready for our function event in York because the lighting was shocking!

We arrived as a group of 8 on the 24th May for a hen party! We was aware that check in wasn't available until 3pm, however we made our way there at 12.30 pm to see if we could store our bags, we was then told this wasn't an option as the hotel didn't offer this service! We paid an extra £10 on one on the rooms and checked in early to store all bags in one room, this seemed ok as the receptionist said she would make a note that the whole party had arrived, and we could check in later that evening. After arriving back at 7pm the remaining 3 rooms went to check in however the last two girls were told that there wasn't room for them as the hotel offers an 'over book' and 'first come first serve' policy. Discussing seeing that they knew we were all there from 12.30! After much deliberation and alot of strong words the hotel eventually found a room for them to sleep in! Their first option was to move them to another hotel, however with this being a bank holiday weekend there was no rooms available in any other hotels ! They miraculously then found them a room in that hotel! After 90 minutes of trying to get this sorted we all headed back upstairs to get ready, already running late for the reservations we had booked for the evening to find an awful smell in our rooms and a soaking wet bed and carpet!! The air conditioning was pouring out water meaning our room was no longer adequate to sleep in! This was just another bomb shell!! The four of us were then all transferred in to one family room, although we had previously been told that they couldn't sleep us all in one room! Discussing customer service and appalling state of the rooms! Would never even consider staying in another travel lodge! Disgraceful !!

We just stayed for the one night.
Hotel is quite central, close to the river Ouse.
As with all Travelodges, room was basic but adequate. Clean and comfortable.
My only issue was that the room smelt like cats pee! We couldn't make out why but it was clean and as it was for the one night and we were out and about, we didn't have a problem...
We chose not to eat breakfast as there was a much cheaper alternative down the road and we felt it was a tad expensive.
Otherwise all was ok...
