We paid £185 for 2 nights B&B plus £20 for the car park. I asked for room only but was told it wasn't available at weekends. The room was very cold when we arrived as the heating was turned down very low. The room was ok apart from the dirty splash marks up the wall in the bathroom, it wouldn't take much to give it a good scrub. The room had tea/coffee making facilities but were never replenished and the element in the kettle needed a good clean. The breakfast was self service, even down to making your own tea. The toast was in a basket on the counter and tasted very stale. The location of the hotel is brilliant and York is a lovely place to visit. This hotel is very expensive for what you get but with a great location which, I suppose is what you pay for.

Enjoyed the stay at York mostly as our hotel was so close to the inner city and was spacious. Free Wi Fi a bonus as well. Room could have been a little cleaner but shower was great and staff was helpful.

My Husband and I booked this as a late deal for a Thursday night shopping trip and after reading some reviews were a little worried, we need not have been as we were pleasantly surprised.
Room: We upgraded to a river view room by e-mail and our reply offered us a superior room with velux window (room 71) at an extra £10, this left me with an image of being in the attic, which in sorts we were, however the roof window opened out to give fantastic views of the river area and being on the top floor meant we didnt hear a lot of noise. The room itself was adequate for our needs, nothing flash and quite compact but comfy beds, a kettle with plenty of tea/coffee and a great powerful shower (over bath) and bathroom with hairdryer and shampoo/showergel etc. Only issue with this room was the birdmuck and dirt on the windows which looked like it had been there some time, I suppose with the weather and being near the river this could not really be helped.
Food / Drink : Super, Help yourself buffet breakfast with a good choice of hot ( full english), cold (cereals, yogurts) and bakery (croissants, toasts) options. Could not fault it. Bar and lounge area which overlooked the river was nice. They do have a resteraunt which seemed to be reasonable and a good menu but we didnt eat there.
Location : Excellent, A 5 minute walk from the train station and just across the bridge is the main shopping area. Yates and Slug and lettuce 2 minutes away with restaraunts and other bars within minutes.
Service : Good in the main, they did seem to be having an issue with being a receptionist down which seemed to have caused a delay but staff were pleasant and helpful.

Overall : We will definately stay here again and all in all could not find any real complaint, if your looking for a luxury hotel then this isnt it but then again it dosn't claim to be either. Good value accomadation and at £72 (inc upgrade) for 2 of us with breakfast a bargain in a city centre.

Room Tip: As the hotel overlooks the river and a few nightspots are in close proximity I would imagine weekend...

My wife and i stayed at the queens hotel fri 26th november for 2 nights. The hotel is in a really good spot just a short walk from the train station and minutes from the city centre.I think we paid £60 per night for double room inc breakfast which i thought was quite good for that weekend. The room was very nice and clean, plenty of room lovely big comfy bed and nice bathroom with decent shower (stayed at the hilton york earlier in the year in a basic room and this was as good if not better) .The breakfast was help yourself with plenty of choice and very nice. You couldnt have your room until 2-30 in the afternoon but you could check in earlier and leave your bags so not a problem. All the hotel staff were very friendly and i would definitly stay there again. York is a really nice place to visit with plenty to see and do but i was quite dissapointed with the city christmas lights etc. somehow thought it would be a bit more special.

My wife and I spent two nights dinner bed and breakfast at the Queen's and found the staff friendly and helpful, the room clean and comfortable and the food all you would expect at the rate paid. We wouldn't hesitate at staying there again. A bonus, being on foot, is that the hotel is very close to the centre.
Don't miss the Railway Museum - free and absolutely fascinating.

Room Tip: We didn't have a river view room but it was in no way a problem. If you want to view the river t...

We stayed as a couple for one night for a birthday , we were very pleased with the hotel especially the excellent location. We paid £10 for the carpark which we were allowed park from our early arrival in York at 11 , until we left about lunch time the day after.
We also paid the £10 for the river view room, which even though we werent in the room for a great deal of time was well worth the extra.

The room was nice, plenty big enough and the bed comfortable. There was a little bit of mould in the tile grouting in a couple of areas which would have been easily removed with bleach but nothing major (room 18). there was constant hot water and overall we were very pleased.
The breakfast was great plenty of choice and we both left very full !
Staff were friendly and we would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.
Search through trivago they gave us the cheapest price including breakfast.
we hope to go back in the summer and walk the walls.

Room Tip: definitely pay the extra £10 for a river view room !
