“Perfect value for money!”
Reviewed 1 July 2012 via mobile

Stayed in 2 twin rooms on a trip to York with 3 other girls from work. We did the dinner bed and breakfast deal.
The room was lovely, 3 course dinner was very nice plenty of choice apart from if you don't eat meat as only one veggie choice.
Breakfast was nice too. Hot options. Plenty of cereal. Croissants butter jam toast, fruit juices.
The only thing I can complain about was the fact that our swipe door keys failed to work a couple of times and we had to get them reset ( twice at 4am which was a bit of an inconvenience)
I would definitely return!

I stayed here for one night in June we were 4 friends in twin rooms. We were a bit aprehensive as the hotel is rated 2 stars. The hotel is right on the river about a 15min max walk from the train station. When we arrived our twin rooms were actually a double & a single, the room was very big, very clean & the bathroom was also very clean too. Overall we were very impressed at this point. the staff were friendly & helpful. The Hotel looked after our bags as we arrived early & headed out to the shops. As we booked our roons through Travel Republic it was a dinner, bed & breakfast deal & we were aprehensive as to what the food would be like. We booked a table on check in & we were once again pleasantly suprised there are 3 choices of starter & pudding & 4 choices of main for example steak, gammon, seabass. Dont get me wrong it wasnt Michellin star food but it was very nice. The hotel during the night was very quiet, breakfast is buffett style full english with eggs your choice cooked to order, also fresh fruit, yogs & cereal, juices, tea & coffee.
Overall a very pleasant suprising stay at the Queens, would definately book again for my next trip to York in December & would definately recommend should be awarded at least a 3 star maybe even 4.

We went to this hotel about a year ago and decided to return as it is close to the city centre.
On arriving we were given a 2nd floor room overlooking road works. We had booked through Late Rooms and asked them to request a 3rd floor non smoking room overlooking the river. I know you can't guarantee requests but according to the hotel, Late Rooms didnt bother to submit our request. Wont be using Late Rooms again !!!!
The room we had was spacious and clean but there were several marks on the walls that someone had tried to paint over with a different shade paint. The bathroom had a good shower and bath but the floor was well worn and hadnt been cleaned properly. Mould was growing in the bathroom around the sealant but apart from that the room was ok. The entrance/lobby to the hotel looked shabby and dirty with paper and leaves from the street blowing in onto the carpet.
Breakfast was good and dishes refilled with breakfast items regularly. The breakfast room was really busy but the staff coped really well.Reception were really good on arrival. We had a room right next to the lift and double doors but didnt hear any noise.
Overall this hotel is great for a 1 or 2 night stay. The location is good the rooms clean and the breakfast good but it is looking a bit worn now.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the river are great for views.

We stayed Friday 22nd June to Sunday 24th June 2012 for my husbands birthday and the room was very spacious and clean, clean towels both days and plenty of tea coffee and biscuits.
We would recommend this hotel for couples and singles alike and the location is perfect as you are straight into the main centre and the pubs and restaurants and shops.
The breakfast was outstanding, fruit, yoghurt, cereals, full english and toast, tea and coffee.Perfect weekend break would definately recommend this hotel! Joanne and Tony. Hessle

Room Tip: Ask for the river view room.

Just stayed one night when visiting York for a wedding. We wanted a central location with a car park and providing you don t pick a day when it gets flooded(we did and had to rescue the car at 6.45am - thanks though for the call) it hits the mark on both counts.
We were very happy with our choice and the rooms was fine with a comfortable big bed and a quiet location. We overlooked a courtyard. The bathroom was a little tired and maybe a bit basic, but overall as good as a premier inn .
This is a 2 star hotel and location alone should make it 3.
Check in at reception was good and welcoming. We were able to leave our baggage and hang clothes up as the room was not ready when we arrived. A taxi arrived promptly.
Breakfast was good and eggs cooked to order meant we got great fried eggs, done just the way I like runny and crispy underneath.
Would definitely recommend if the price is right.
Car park is £10 extra and although asked to pay, with the flooding we disagreed and they agreed to waive. We had moved the car to a pay carpark as we were staying in York until the afternoon.

Room Tip: Ask for river view if this is important, but could be noisy Courtyard rooms are quiet

Stayed at Queens Hotel on Groupon deal which was very good value. The hotel is in a great location and our room overlooked the river. It was very convenient for all the amenities in York. Our room was large and the beds very comfortable however it was very warm in the room and there was no air conditioning. Staff on reception were very helpful and it was very useful to have car parking under the hotel. The buffet breakfast was adequate. I would recommend this hotel because of its position and friendly staff. Unfortunately it rained the whole time of our visit!

Room Tip: superior room with river view

The hotel is in on the river front. A fantastic location. Literally 1 minute walk to the town centre. The hotel has very freindly and welcoming staff. The room was recently decorated. The hotel is clean. Breakfast buffet was yummy, hot and delicious. Good choice of breakfast items. Hotel room attended to by room service each day of our stay. Not sure why this hotel hasn't got more stars. We will certainly stay here again when visiting York. Highly recommend.

Room Tip: We stayed in a superior room - which is very spacious and had a lovley view of York and teh river. W...
